Social Media for Churches:

the Why and How

Does social media ever seem like a

different world?

Do you ever feel like an alien among

tech-savvy natives?

Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Texting-- Socialmedia is here to stay. For many, it's becomingthe chief means of communication in thisdigital age. The language barriers of communication were broken at Pentecost sothat disciples could go to all nations with theGood News-- shouldn't we also break throughthe new language of social media?

Come learn how to stay current with the bestcommunication tools out there. Find out whysocial media needs to be part of our church'sministry, and get hands-on direction for howto go about doing it. Instruction will be givenfor beginner and advanced learners in each of the four media named; go home with yourown Facebook page, Pinterest and Twitter

accounts. Laptop or tablet required.Instructors: Rev. Dr. Tim Coombs & Rev. Dr.Michelle Bogue-Trost

Tenebrae Worship Service

Good Friday

March 29 7:30 pm

Tenebrae, or “Service of Shadows,” is one of the oldest traditions of theChristian Church for the commemoration of the passion and death of Christ.

As the Passion story unfolds, the sanctuary darkens, until, with the death of  Jesus, only one candle is left burning. This light is removed from thesanctuary, symbolizing Christ’s three days in the tomb.

This very solemn service readies us for the joy we experience on Eastermorning, when the light returns as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus.

All are welcome. Child and nursery care will be available.

Rethinking and re-purposing your church grounds to glorify and protectGod's creation.

Suggestions for Spiritual Growth

Spiritual growth results from trusting Jesus Christ. AsPaul wrote to the Galatians: “The just shall live by faith”.A life of faith will enable you to trust God increasinglywith every detail of your life and to practice the following:

G Go to God in daily prayer (John15:7).

R Read God’s Word daily (Acts 17:11).O Obey God moment by moment (John 14:12).

W Witness for Christ by your life and words (Matthew4:19; John 15:8).

T Trust God for every detail of your life (1Peter 5:7).

H Holy Spirit – Allow Him to control and empoweryour daily life and witness (Galatians 5:16,17).

Two creative ways to reuse plastic soda bottles:

Dripless Ice Cubes: Fill empty bottles with water and freeze them to use in your icechest this summer instead of loose ice. It's cheaper, and a lot less messy than all thosemelting cubes. Savings: About $3 for a ten-pound bag of ice.

Water Your Plants: Make an automatic plant wateringdevice out of an empty soda bottle and one of theseAquaSpikes.
