COSMIC CRAFT PAYS OFF:The Cosmic Girls, a local team ofwomen passionate about fightingwomen’s cancers that fundraises totake part in the 60km Weekend to EndWomen’s Cancer in support of thePrincess Margaret Hospital each fall,hosted a fundraising 22-hour scrap-booking event last weekend at theOperating Engineers Banquet Hall. Theproceeds from the event — which wasa sell-out before it even began — willgo to the team’s participation in thisfall’s walk. To date, the Cosmic Girlsteam has raised more than $250,000for the cause. Focus on the heart on Feb. 16As matters of the heart
take precedence in February,a local cardiologist will get tothe heart of matters of theheart on Feb. 16.
Dr. Michael Heffernan, acardiologist with HaltonHealthcare Services (HHS),which operates Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital,Milton District Hospital andGeorgetown Hospital, willspeak about Advances inCardiac Care.
The free, public seminarwill take place at 7 p.m. atSouthside CommunityChurch in Milton.
Hosted jointly by HHSand The Heart and Stroke
Foundation of Ontario, theseminar will open at 6:30p.m. with displays.

nar will learn about risk fac-tors and how to improveheart health.
