The Seaside Special bus along with members of the cast of Seaside Special unveiled the new brochure and posed with the bus before appearing on stage in the first matinee performance of this year's highly acclaimed summer variety show at the Pavilion Theatre. The Day Trip Treats promotion is the result of working partnership between Creative Tourism, Ideas and Solutions of Cromer and local bus operator Konectbus to secure some great offers for bus passengers including a special ticket price to ‘Seaside Special’ as well as discounts at local eateries and other attractions including Alby Crafts and Priory Maze. Passengers simply present the voucher, which is found within the ‘konectexpress 2’ timetable leaflet at the attraction to receive the discount. The offers, which run until the end of the year, are geared to encourage more bus passengers from the Norwich area to come and explore the delights of the north Norfolk towns. Continued on page 5... Cromer WI Our meeting for June was a week late as we couldnot have our usual day due to the local election. The speaker we had arranged could not make thenew date so one of our members filled the gap.

Shirley Thwaits gave a talk about her “salt and pepper pots”. We wondered how a talk about a cruet set could hold our attention but itturned out to be a really fascinating story. Shirley and her husband Frankhad been in the forces and the salt and pepper pots had travelled withthem all around the world. Shirley gave us a lovely insight to her lifeand travels and we all listen spellbound.

We had a report on the WI AGM in Cardiff where our resolution to help Britain’s struggling High Streets was approved and an official WI campaign was launched.

Arrangements were made for a trip to the Flower Festival in Ely and aday out in Kings Lynn. In August we are having a Posh Frocks Eveningwith a buffet prepared by two of our members.

Pat Fisher won our competition for a teacup and saucer.

New members are always welcome on the second Thursday of themonth at 2.30pm in the Community Hall in Garden Street.

Overstrand Evening WIOur June meeting provided a choice of either a walk or a gamesevening. Fourteen members chose the walk - over the cliff tops andacross the golf course, returning via the church footpath and Pauls Lane.Back at the hall we all enjoyed strawberries and cream as well as the opportunity to purchase bargains from the sales table.

Our next meeting will be on 17 July when Margaret Dickinson will givea talk on The Humorous Side of Nursing. We welcome visitors to ourmeetings - these are on the third Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm inthe Parish Hall, Overstrand.

REGULAR EVENTS

Cromer Times 425 July 13th 20136

Young musicians from Hungary invited to perform in Cromer Parish Church by EvelynSmith, the Director of Canaan, the centre inSheringham which gives shelter, love and security to many who have fallen on difficulttimes, gave a superb concert, displaying theircollective and individual skills in solo and ensemble playing with mature stage presence, performing to a high standard.

Of the 12 young artists, nine of them werefrom just two families, augmented by threefriends to complete the array of such masterfultalent of which the youngest was just 10 yearsold!

Under the directorship of Zsolt Kormendy, the programme opened with "Amazing Grace"with the youngest musician singing the introductory verse completed by well balanced, with perfect intonation, singing by the quicklyformed choir.

The programme progressed with a piece

entitled "Celtic Communion" for solo flute accompanied by a string trio, a cello solo"Evening Song", a violin solo "Gavotte in Amator" by G F Handel, a piece for string ensemble by Louis Claude Daquin named "Ri Qaodon" in G minor , a Hungarian dance, then the 2nd movement of Telemann’s fluteconcerto followed by a piece by BernardRomberg for cello solo.

The sonata in E minor for violin solo, "Legende" by Henryk Wieniawski, was a trulybeautiful and highly sensitive performance. The performance of Max Bruch’s violin concerto in G minor, 3rd movement, was the highlight of this concert, played from memory with such assurance and maturity in interpretation and style it was sheer delight,I am sure, to all present. After this came astring trio playing Mozart’s Divertimento in C major, serenely played with the rapportwithin this young trio being a sure sign of innate musicianship. The final work in this

programme was a choral arrangement of "TheLord’s My Shepherd", beautifully sung withperfect intonation and with the part singingwell balanced.

It must be said the piano accompanists were somusically intelligent in their craft, superb infact!

The wonderful group of young people, alongwith their leaders, devote hours of their timeand expertise to raise funds for orphanages andmothers’ homes, and for those growing up instate care, helping their development and assisting them in their integration into society, and putting Christian values into focus.

It was good that these gifted young people, along with their teachers and parents, werewelcomed to Cromer by Cromer Mayor, DavidPritchard, who stayed for the whole concertand who, afterwards, talked with some of theperformers conveying his enjoyment and appreciation of their performances.

STOCKISTS OF;

Cromer and superb, succulent, tasty crab hasgone together for centuries. They taste greatsimply dressed and enjoyed with a lovely greensalad, but we wanted to do something slightlymore adventurous with this fantastic seafood.

John and Ann Graveling, who ran the Grovefor over thirty years, are still the bosses in thegarden, and Ann planted me a small herb garden last year which complements the wildmint, lemongrass, bay, garlic, parsley and rosemary that are dotted around the grounds. It’s a bit of an initiation for any new Chefs dePartie to send them out for fresh rosemary andwatch them, ever-more frantically, searchingthe gardens until the sun begins to set over thedistant church tower. One young lad set out toforage for some wild garlic at the beginning ofApril and still hasn’t come back in.

This recipe takes advantage of some lovelyfresh coriander and ginger; tangy limes fromCromer Farm and Health shop, and of course, freshly caught Cromer crab – the King ofseafood.

I hope you enjoy your summer and we lookforward to seeing you for dinner- or afternoontea! at the Grove – 01263512412 to book!

This two part article looks at some of themany changes that have been introducedover recent weeks and months by the Government. The second article will consider the increased flexibility that now exists for householders to extendtheir properties, and for changes to take place easily in the high street andelsewhere.

This first article looks at a more wide rangingtax regime that is now being rolled out acrossthe Country, which has potential impact on alldevelopment of any significance.

Traditionally, significant schemes have undergone a public planning process involvinga planning application, debate and decision.Parallel to that process, there has quite oftenbeen the creation of a “planning agreement”whereby developers, land owners and othersmake various financial and other commitmentsas a precondition to getting planning permission.

Typically a housing development may make a contribution towards the costs of education in the vicinity, and the site may be partly allocated for “affordable housing” available tothose who are unable to buy their own home.

Whilst the “affordable housing” aspects, and some of the detailed direct impacts of the development may still be covered by a“planning agreement” under the new system, the new tax is designed to introduce a uniform

approach, that can easily be calculated, with the revenue being used to fundbroader infrastructure requirementsacross any planning area.

This is known as the ‘community infrastructurelevy’.

Only a hand full of local authorities has gone through the process leading to adopting a formal charging system, but many others arein the process now.

Whilst small scale developments will be excluded, any significant development will becharged at rates to be set calculated per squaremetre constructed or extended.

With a charge of £100 per square metre common place, it is obvious the impact this canhave on the costs of development. These costswill either be passed on to ultimate propertypurchasers or occupiers, or reflected in reducedland prices.

Over the next 12 months many authorities will have adopted this tax, partly as a means tooffset lack of central funding for schools, roadsetc. The unknown factor is how much this taxwill ‘choke off’ development that would otherwise have come forward.

The theory is that the tax should be set at a level that will allow economic activity and the resultant tax revenue to fund new infrastructure, but not at a level that would stifle economic activity.

Understandably, perhaps, there is a rush to secure planning permissions under the currentregime, which many believe is cheaper for developers than the planned levy.

This sort of tax has been tried several timesover recent decades but in every case has failedto take hold and has been abandoned. Howeverthis current regime does seem to have politicalweight behind it. The financial pressure is onlocal authorities to adopt this tax as perhaps theonly practical way of securing infrastructureimprovements that will no longer be fundedcentrally.

The creation of this new system from scratch is also a significant burden on local authorities.

They must be able to calculate and judge overall needs for infrastructure going forward, often withoutknowing precisely whereand to what extent otherfunding sources will continue. They must acquire and use sophisticated financialskills to work out an appropriate level ofcharge that will meet the balance of simulatinginfrastructure without killing off development. Then the proposed charges schedules need torun through public examination and processesbefore they can be adopted.

At the time of preparing this article North Norfolk District Council are at the early stagesof implementation, but it is expected that significant progress will need to be made before Spring next year.

It is obvious that this new regime has implications for land owners, developers and investors. Should you have any concernsas to how the regime could affect you in any of these circumstances please look out for theinformation published by NNDC over the coming months.

The Natural Tile Company is one of the newestbusinesses to open a shop in North Norfolk, having been opened by James Gage just threemonths ago supplying, as the company namesuggests, tiles, and bathrooms, but with a bespoke personal service.

Not so much a tile shop as a tile boutique - and the big difference? They have a uniqueportfolio of exclusive, innovative and qualityproducts to suit everyones budget. From a£9.99 m2 tile up to £600.00m2 tile.

“I want to make a change and impact on theUK tile market with displaying in a boutiquelike way with beautiful innovative productsand excellent customer service”

James has spent half his life involved in tiles,as his father Philip worked in the industry andJames was helping from a young age. So howdid this come about?

"I was a property renovator specialising inKitchens, Bathrooms and tiling, and have always been interested in tiles as my father

worked in the sector. I found a new concept of recycled tiles in San Jose, California, and set up a UK agency for the California basedcompany, Fireclay Tile."

"Fireclay Tile is the leading ceramic tile company using recycled materials and

sustainable manufacturing practices. They makethe highest quality, most durable and aesthetic hand-madeceramic materialsusing “old world”methods that are

unique, affordable, and 'green'.”

"This was the starting point, thenas this grew in demand I foundmyself trying to balance the two(property work and Tiles) andhad to make a decision whichroute I wanted to go take and astiles were my passion, that was a quite easy choice to make."

"So I decided to open a showroom in Holt were I coulddisplay these amazing productsand I also took on products fromthree more Spanish factories andseveral English companies aswell."

"And for bathrooms products, I only display and supply quality products that I have fitted before and know well andhave several room settings displayed in theshowroom."

James’ enthusiasm for these special products issupported by his father's lifetime of experiencein the industry.

The boutique is situated in the HempsteadRoad industrial estate on Nelson Square,NR25 6ER, and is open Monday to Friday8am until 5 pm and Saturdays from 9 to4.30. Tel; 01263 711 979

Whilst driving into Norwich recently I was relating a tale pertinent to my passenger, butwhen I paused for her reaction, none came.Glancing across, I saw the reason why – shewas texting, engrossed, thumbs busy on hermobile phone and she hadn’t heard a word I said.

Even more recently, five close family memberswho were visiting, sat with us to watch the FA Cup Final and failed to react when theWigan goalkeeper brought off a stunning save. I turned round to see that, despite beingfootball fans in varying degree, all five wereoccupied with their techno-gadgets, three on i-phones, one on a tablet and one using a laptop. Grumpy and his wife were alone in paying attention to the match at that moment.

May I suggest that the massive rise in so-calledAttention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is directly linked to the concurrent rise in distraction overload presented by modern technology. The medical profession wouldhave us believe ADHD is a form of affliction,an illness, and is busy prescribing bucketfuls of pills which affect the brain in an effort tobring about a ‘cure’.

When I started secondary school at the age of11, on the first day of term I carried home

a letter from the school to my parents which requested that they must ensure I had a quietplace in which to do my homework, preferablyin my own room and on no account shouldthere be any extraneous noise such as a radiobecause they believed children will develop theability to shut out such distraction and be morelikely to switch off their teacher’s voice andallow their minds to wander whilst in class. Attention Deficit (in those days called inattention) was frowned upon and attractedpunishment, usually in the form of extra workor detention. Nobody was hyperactive. Nobody claimed to have a mental disorder as a convenient excuse for laziness or bad behaviour, which was not tolerated. Casual disruption was nipped in the bud.

The innocent freedom I enjoyed as a child with the ability to explore and wander safely,to pursue varied indoor and outdoor hobbiesand interests and to exercise much responsibleindependence, has gone. We are in a strangenew world now. Giving small children electronic gadgets to occupy them in the sameway as giving a baby a dummy to suck, to keepthem quiet, is a be-trayal of childhood,as once addicted theycannot be weanedfrom them. They

do not learn to think, but to respond: also the attention of parents is increasingly concentrated on their owngadgets as they,in turn, are perpetually distracted.

Trouble lies ahead I fear.

Nowadays, the onlytime I notice numbers of children in public is when they are going to school or returning home. Then they vanishindoors to their cyber world and the television.

In a few short years our way of life has been totally and unnaturally transformed, wholeheartedly embraced without a care for the consequences, and the first generation is growing up without a firm grip on reality. The genie is out of the bottle.

Grumpy Old ManSorry – what did you say?

Ned NimbusSo far this year has panned out as predicted andit is unlikely that the next six month predictionswill need much alteration with indications thatthe period extending out to early January willnot be dominated by cold weather in the winterperiod.

The rest of the summer, which should have finally started at the beginning of July ,will more than make up for the dismal start to summer 2013 . Because the sea temperature is some four to five degreesbelow normal we are more than normal susceptible to cold sea breezesand low cloud right on the coast. The sea temperature has been edgingdown for some time, winter and summer.

After the demise of global warming we now have climate change andrecent 'stabs' at what might happen suggest that we can expect cold unsettled winters and cool wet summers so we have come full circleback to our maritime climate.

Expect anything at any time of the year - drought, storms, floods, heatwaves. Nothing changes.

Cromer and District Garden SocietyMembers have had a busy couple of months. We were host to the annualquiz with our friends from the Sheringham and Hoveton societies andafter a closely fought competition a team from Sheringham came out thewinner. Nearly sixty took part in the quiz, a sign that the popularity ofthis annual event is as strong as ever.

A plant sale held to raise funds for the society was very well supportedand we are now £190 better off as a result. Thanks are due to memberswho supplied the plants and helped on the day. Paul Metcalf spoke atour June meeting and his subject was soft fruit. He gave us many tips onhow to get the best results for our efforts and it was encouraging to learnthat virus free varieties of raspberries are available to help maximiseyields and early varieties of strawberries mean that the season for thissummer favourite is much longer. Given the vagaries of our weather at the moment any help we can get to make life easier is welcome!

Thirty members visited Elsing Hall Gardens near Dereham for the first of our summer outings. The hall itself is a late medieval gem of a building and proved to be a perfect backdrop for a spectacular garden. This garden is not normally open to the public but does open for specialoccasions from time to time so if you get a chance to visit this gardenthen please do so , you will not be disappointed.

By the time this report appears we will have had our annual rose andsweet pea members’ evening and the judging for our competition forschools will have taken place. As you see the society is as busy as everand I would encourage anyone interested in gardening to join us. Ring01263 514399 for details.

The themed week, which ran from 10 June, aimed to educate the public about blood donation and register 10,000 new blood donorsnationally.

And thanks to an overwhelming response from the public, NHS Blood and Transplantmanaged to smash that target and sign up almost 11,400 people.

NHS Blood and Transplant spokespersonDerek Carr said “We are delighted that National Blood Week had such a strong response and we are very grateful for all thesupport we had from our donors and the publicwhich made it possible.

“It’s great that we were able to beat our national target and we hope that the peoplewho registered in this area will now go on to be regular donors, which will help us maintaina steady supply of blood, as it has a short shelflife. However, the task does not finish here. Weconstantly need new donors – and in particularyounger donors - to replace the 200,000 peoplenationally who have to retire from donatingeach year due to factors like poor health andcertain medication, so I would urge people tokeep coming forwards.

“Giving blood is easy, doesn’t take long to doand can help up to three people.”

During National Blood Week, which ran from

10-16 June, NHS Bloodand Transplant aimed toincrease understandingof the uses of blood andthe donation process to encourage those who have nevergiven blood before, or who have not given forsome time, to ‘Know Blood, Give Blood’ andhelp save lives.

Anyone aged between 17-65, weighing morethan 50 kg (7st 12lbs) and in general goodhealth could potentially start saving lives bybecoming a blood donor. There is no upperage limit for donors who have donated in thelast two years.

For more information or to book an appointment visit www.blood.co.uk or contact 0300 123 23 23.

National Blood Week smashes targets!A big thank you has been issued to donors and supporters afterNational Blood Week 2013 easily exceeded its targets.

Firstly, an update on the two cats mentioned last time.

Millie, has now been re-homed with her fosterer who had grown veryfond of her. Having recently lost her elderly dog she thought Millie wasa suitable candidate to fill the gap in her household. Roger has also leftfor a new home, with a veterinary nurse who met him while his balanceproblem was being investigated. The ideal home for Roger as she isaware of his medical history and will be able to identify any changes to his condition. Lovely boy, lucky lad.

When Stephanie returned fromholiday recently I had to confess that cat numbers had increased inour household but not with onefrom Cats Protection. For the past10+ years we have had a “feral” catvisiting our garden, an unneuteredblack tom cat, who would not goanywhere near a cat trap. Last yearwe finally managed to catch him ina special cat box. This was made

easier because his claws had started to dig into his pads and he could notmove so quickly. He was neutered, had some teeth removed, clawsclipped and antibiotics and returned to the garden after a night in thegarage. Having survived the harsh winter out in the cold (although thereare cat kennels available for shelter) we again noticed his claws weregetting too long and another visit to the vets was arranged. A furtherdental was recommended and as he had finally begun to accept contactfrom us we were able to get him in a normal carrier for a further visit tothe vets. This poor little lad had two abscesses in his mouth and a further9 teeth removed. On his return from the vets we put him in the conserva-tory to recover and he has hardly left there since. After all these years hehas finally learnt to trust people again, and is now a real lap cat that justloves a cuddle. It is obvious that at some point he did have a home andhe probably got lost while looking for unneutered queens. Hector is nowa permanent addition to our household, I just wish he could have made itindoors earlier.

If you are looking for a cat or kitten please give a call on 01692535858. Alternatively you can visit www.cats.org.uk/northwalshamfor a description and photographs of the cats before giving us a callon the above number. If however you are interested in receiving help to neuter your cat/kitten please ring 07880 256948 (to see if you are eligible for a voucher).

Pupils from Gresham's Prep School put on a spectacular concert as part of their SpeechDay on Friday 28 June marking the end to theirschool year. Each year the School invites a special guest speaker to present end of year prizes, aswell as gifts to all the Year 8leavers. This year the Schoolwas delighted to welcome Sophie Christiansen OBE., a British equestrian and triplegold medal winner who hascompeted in three successiveParalympic Games. In herspeech, Sophie told the PrepSchool that she never allowedher disabilities to stop her following her dreams and saidthat winning a bronze medalchanged her life and gave her the confidence to carry on. She advised pupils to embracechange and follow their dreamsand concluded by wishing all the Year 8 SchoolLeavers the very best of luck. It was both a moving and inspirational speechhighlighting to not just the children but

everyone present that anything is possible ifyou are determined to work hard and followyour dreams. Such was the impact of herspeech that it was met by a standing ovation.

Speech Day at the Prep School was themed'Sounds of the '60s' and was kicked off with a rock concert followed by a string of performances by each year group. There was

a variety of ensembles performing everythingfrom rock to Celtic music, as well as dance anddramatic performances supported by the PrepSchool Orchestra. The sheer variety of musicalinstruments being played by children as youngas nine was said by one parent to be "trulyamazing when you consider how young these

children still are". The concertculminated with a whole Schoolperformance of Hey Jude (TheBeatles) which raised the roof!

Following the performances,James Quick, Headmaster, delivered his end-of-year speechin which he praised the pupilsfor all their hard work and fortheir wonderful performances. He said “Research across Europehas indicated that people whoare most likely to be flourishingand happy are socially connected, trust others, valuecreativity, new ideas, loyalty, helping others and enjoying life. These are the attitudes and skills

that are central to us at Gresham’s Prep.” It wascertainly evident to see from all the happysmiling faces on stage!

Leader Tom FitzPatrick made a presentation to members of the Enterprise North Norfolkentrepreneur training programme on June 25that a special event hosted by The Victorian Tea Rooms, Cromer, on Tuesday 25 June. This marked their success in setting up new businesses, ranging from historic tapestryrestoration and conservation to insurancebroking. The course leader - Kate Wilde from Engagewith Business - was delighted with the successof her first 12 'graduates' of the course.Modules include business basics, mentoringand master classes in subjects such as marketresearch and social media and are designed to

help people start their own business with theireyes open. The successful new businessmen and womenwere presented with a copy of ‘The EssentialBusiness Guide’, essential reading for all entrepreneurs and full of vital information for further success in their chosen fields ofbusiness.NNDC Cabinet Member for Business Enterprise and Economic Development, Russell Wright, said, "The project is reallystarting to make a difference. Work we did when I was a member of the County Coun-cil showed that it is crucial that new entrepre-neurs are given help to create credible business

plans, so important if they are to be able to ob-tain business loans. And it’s vital that they have appropriate support and advice available dur-ing the first year of business operation, to ensure their survival and success. We will con-tinue to build on this project to find more waysof reaching out and assisting North Norfolk’sbusinessmen and women of the future.”‘Graduate’ Cathy Howlett hosted the wholeevent at The Victorian Tea Rooms, which shebought in April to realise her dream. She tookadvantage of Enterprise North Norfolk's offer of free training and one-to-onebusiness start-up advice“The course took a lot of the fear away

from starting out in business, and wonderingwhether you can do it. It helped with thingslike payroll, costing, marketing and taught meto be careful to help see us through the leanerwinter months,” she said.Other graduates were Andrew Cunningham-Brown, North Norfolk Insurance, Sheringham;Paulina Jones, Capella Health and Well-beingCentre, Stalham; Mike Lee architectural services, Cromer; Elaine Owers historical tapestry restoration, Erpingham Mary CoveyFakenham Foot Care; Olga Ingram fromCromer Gingercat jewellery design and SarahHarris Peppermint Valley online clothes andaccessories. For more information about upcoming coursesvisit www.enterprisenn.co.uk, call 01263569360 or email [email protected] word from the guests to Cathy - "Fantasticcakes."

More ambulance cover in northNorfolk cautiously welcomedNorth Norfolk Labour Party's Act on Ambulances campaigners havewelcomed news of more ambulance cover in north Norfolk - 12 monthsafter their petition against cuts started.

Over the last year the party have appealed to the East of England Ambulance Service board not to cut ambulance resource in Cromer and North Walsham, at a time when response times were already poor.

Over 10,000 people have signed their petition and the Trust undertook a series of u-turns which saw an increase in ambulance hours as performance worsened.

Now, staff at our local ambulance bases have won a battle against a reduction in services, as part of a formal grievance written in October2011, meaning the NHS trust will now increase the number of double-staffed ambulance hours from 504 a week to 614 hours.

The move has been cautiously welcomed by the local Labour Party whomet with the board last year to explain the fears of local residents andechoed staff concerns.

Denise Burke, spokesperson for the campaign, said "This is good newsfor the thousands of people who have signed the Act on Ambulances petition against cuts to double-staffed ambulances in north Norfolk. We applaud the unions and staff who have spent months fighting theirformal grievance, and pushing for action. We hope that the Trust willstick to their word and ensure this measures take shape as soon as possible. If they do it will be good news for patients here."

with a headline of Disaster atthe Morley. Yes our high flying Cromer Crabsteam in the Tuesday evening Federation mixedCounty league came crashing down to a heavy1 - 8 defeat on a very wet night at SheringhamMorley. The team could not get to grips with either the green or the weather. Very disappointing for captain John as earlier in theweek the team had a resounding 9 - 0 win athome to Aylsham and the previous week had

won 8 - 1 away at avery strong Cawstonteam. I am sure the team will regroup andhopefully will meet thechallenge of Dilham

Cross Keys, because folks that green will be achallenge. Also in the Federation League theCrows at home to Trunch lost 2 - 7 but had a very good win away at Blakeney RBL 7 - 2 The Hansells League team were awayat Cawston and in a very tight match againstanother strong Cawston team managed a 3½ - 1½ win. In this game Portuguese John andVice-Captain Bob were both using green bowls

and Bob managed to use the wrong bowl!!He will get used to colour in time. The following week at home to County Arts a 3 - 2 win was recorded. This was so closeto a full 5 points two rinks each losing oneshot on the last end to lose. A third game, this time away against Holt, and the teammanaged to notch up another 3½ - 1½ win. This saw a very good recovery as all threerinks were trailing in the first few ends ofthe game. It was good to see Tom and Ednaat the club house hoping to be playingagain soon. The NANSA league team hadthe chance to play on the ‘interesting’ Dilham green. They lost 0 - 8. Neil hadnever seen anything like it and probablywill not again. I understand the Dilhamteam are moving next year to another location so the pub green can be built on.So this will be the last year to experiencethe tricks and challenges.

We have two Presidents Days in the coming fortnight. Our Norfolk CountyBowls Association, Ladies President SueEalden is inviting the Lady Presidents of all clubs in the county to the Marrams onTuesday 23rd July. A games of bowls willbe played followed by refreshments and

a raffle. There will also be a ‘Spider’ and allmoney raised on the day will go towards Sue’sPresidents Charity which this year is the PACTAnimal Sanctury at Hingham. I hope theweather is good and a successful day is had byall.

Club President Mick Weddup is holding hisPresidents Day on 14th July. He has planned a full men only rinks game and has invited a number of clubs to send representatives for the day. Prizes will be given for good performances by players and bottles of winewill I understand be given as prizes. Again we must all wish the weather supports Mick on this day.

And so I move on to the forthcoming gamesthat you may wish to come along and support:Sunday 14th July 2.00pm
