HOW DID YOU USE MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES IN THE CONSTRUCTION AND RESEARCH,

PLANNING AND EVALUATION STAGES?

• Throughout the year, there has been number of technologies which we used in order to produce our film, poster and radio

trailer. They all include in both hardware and software usage.

PLANNING:

• During our planning stages there were a lot of things which had to be done. Before we could actually start to make our film, poster and radio trailer, we had to plan out how we were going to do it.

• In order to plan we used Microsoft Word. The reason for this was because it was an easier way of handling data.

• We produced our plan by creating a script for the film and radio trailer. This specific software enabled us to use many features to create our plan and some of these features were:

• Creating tables

• Using clipart

• We also used Microsoft Word to create our posters for advertising. This was an easier way of doing it, as Microsoft Word had all the features which we needed.

MICROSOFT WORD:

• To target our specific audience we have thought of many different ways to get in touch with them. This was when we thought about social networking sites, as many young audiences tend to use it.

• Our main source of networking site was Facebook as it is one of the largest growing social networking sites, as there are a range of people all different ages using it. We decided as a group to publish our questionnaire, which was created on Survey Monkey, as it was an easier and faster way of getting across to our audience.

• Not only did we use Facebook to communicate we also used our Mobile Phones to stay in touch with out group of members. This was a second source which we wanted to use as a back-up, just in case our fellow members didn’t check their notifications on Facebook.

• Through our planning we also used iMovie

• After we have produced our script, I then had to do a storyboard of our film script. This included pictures with headings and the actions and all the audio clips which were needed.

• Once I have finished my storyboard, I then had to take pictures with a digital camera and input them into iMovie. Later on I then had to created an animatic with all the inputted pictures.

• These included slide transition and audio clips, which were done.

• This software helped me and my group get use to the software and use it more confidently, by playing around with in. By doing this I have gained more experience and knowledge.

IMOVIE:

PLANNING:

• During the planning stages we had professional guidance from three professional people.

• Lokmen Chekki - a former cameraman and an assistant producer at BBC

• Yoshito Darman - cameraman

• These two professional people have helped our group understand how cameras work and in what ways you can develop your skill and extend them further by the usage of camera work. They have also helped us on Final Cut Pro to develop a basic understanding of the software. Through their guidance we have learnt about white balance and how this has a huge impact on the quality of our camera work.

• Trevar Jarvis - professional animator. Our group have had a privilege to also work with a professional animator, who helped us to use and learn the basic steps of using Flash C3. After having several lessons we have gained the experience.

RESEARCH:

• As part of our research we had to research on our genre, which was Drama. The reason for this was because so we get an idea of what to include in our film and to analyse the conventions that are used within Drama.

• We were given two specific websites to carry out our research and these were:

• IMDB.COM (The Internet movie database) – this website contains all the information about different films, with additional information.

• BBC Film Network – this website has allowed me to watch short movies which were related to my genre and evaluate them. By being able to watch the films, I was able to acknowledge CLEMS and how it worked.

WEBSITES:

• As mentioned in the previous slides, as part of my research I used Survey monkey, to help me create a questionnaire for my target audience. This website has helped us, as we were able to get feedback from those who have took the questionnaire.

• It was a very useful website as it was a fast and effective way of collecting data. Because of the website it helped us analyse our target audiences preferences on movies and what they like. This helped us to get through their likes and dislikes to improve our film.

RESEARCH: SURVEY MONKEY:

• This source of website is a great way of researching.

• I have used Youtube to find more video tutorials on camera works to increase my basic level of understanding. I have also used this by viewing short films to help me analyse the performance of media and adapt ways in which I can improve things in order to promote and advertise our film.

• I have also used Youtube to upload my animations and animatic to convert the files and get the embedded code. This was helpful as it was an easy and fast way of uploading things, It was also easy to share video clips, so other group members can view it.

RESEARCH: YOUTUBE:

• Google is one of the main search engine which we all used in order to gather information. This search engine is really useful as you can search for anything and everything. It gives you a variety of links to choose from and you can also expand your data entry.

• I used Google in many various ways and they include:

• Checking the weather for a period of time to see which days the weather will have an impact upon our shooting.

• Researching into real film industries and their job roles

• Researching into different Genre fields.

• Researching and reviewing different films.

RESEARCH: GOOGLE:

• During the research I have used Slideshare as this website offers the ability to share and upload presentations and documents.

• This was useful as I was able to upload all my research presentations and share with my group members.

• I have also used this website to upload the files and get the embedded code, so I was able to then paste the embedded code onto my blog.

RESEARCH: SLIDESHARE:

• I have used technologies for my research however I also done some primary research.

• As mentioned in the previous slides I have asked Lokmen Chekki and Yoshito Darman to help me understand the concept of using cameras and how. By doing this I have gained research from a primary source.

• This was effective as I had help from two professionals, who have had years of experience.

RESEARCH: PRIMARY RESEARCH:

CONSTRUCTION:

• The two cameras which we continuously used were:

• Cannon

• Toshiba

• We have used the Cannon Camera to film as the quality of the camera had a more of a professional look, whereas we used the Toshiba Camera to take images.

CAMERA:

• To edit our film we have used Final Cut Pro. This software was hard to use at first, however with the professional help we managed to learn some skills and develop them further.

CONSTRUCTION:FINAL CUT PRO:

• iMac was our main computer which we used in order to construct everything. This computer had all the software which we needed in order to edit our film and produce everything.

• Along with the iMac I have also used my own laptop in order to work out of school hours.

• I used this to update my blog.

CONSTRUCTION:IMAC:

• To do our recordings for our radio trailer, we done it in a recording studio. This was were all the facility and equipments were kept, which we needed.

• We used a microphone to record our voiceover and we also used Logic Pro.

• I also had to download sound effects from sounddog and had to make sure there were not any copyright issues.

CONSTRUCTION:STUDIO:

• I have used technologies in many ways to construct everything.

• Bluetooth has allowed me to send files and connect to the iMac computers in order to send images and contracts. This was a handy way of transferring files as its much quicker rather than re-creating everything on the computer.

• The external hard drive has allowed me to store and back-up all my copies of our work which we produced.

• We used iMovie to help us create the title of our film. This helped us to make the title appealing to the eye, to attract customers.

• I also used Slideshare as part of my construction as I had to upload my PowerPoint presentations to get the embedded codes , so I was able to post the slides onto my blog.

• Sound cloud is a website which I used to upload my radio trailer. This website allows me to share and give out audio files.

• This website has allowed me to blog about everything which I have done, from the beginning of the year since the advanced production till the end.

• The planning, research, and evaluation of my work can be viewed here, as it shows all my work from step by step, as I blogged everything that has been done.

• This software has helped me produce many PowerPoint’s conveying a lot of information from day one. It has helped me gather information and present them in a very appealing way.

• Using PowerPoint has allowed me to share my slides through Slideshare onto my blog.
