TCCA believes in and promotes the principle

of open and competitive markets worldwide through the use of common standards and harmonised spectrum. As well as other PMR open standards, TCCA continues to support and promote the use of TETRA technology and is driving industry synergy in the development of future mobile broadband capability for the users and providers of critical communications.

TCCA represents the interests of its members by working to ensure the delivery of secure and

reliable critical communications for a global market, now and in the future.

TCCA is the 3GPP Market Representation Partner for the critical communications sector. TCCA members actively participate in 3GPP Working Groups.

TCCA works closely with ETSI to help deliver the MCPTT/MCX PlugtestsTM and through ETSI we guard and guide the development of critical communications standards including TETRA.

TCCA has a Memorandum of Understanding with the Global Certification Forum committing the two organisations to work together in the interest of their respective members in areas related to 3GPP Mission Critical Services.

Representation in key industry organisations and involvement in key industry initiatives:

Working Groups - Access and contribute to knowledge and information

TCCA Working Groups are set up and managed by members, and report to the Association CEO and Board. Members are encouraged to actively participate in these Working Groups, which include:

Applications Working Group (Apps WG)Applications offer many efficiencies and possibilities for critical communications users. The Apps WG works on enabling mission critical data and applications in an interoperable way on TETRA and broadband networks.

Broadband Industry Group (BIG)The BIG facilitates mobile broadband vendor cooperation for the benefit of customers, focused on the development and promotion of global critical communications solutions that are built using 3GPP 4G LTE and 5G standardised technologies.

Critical Communications Broadband Group (CCBG)The CCBG drives the development and adoption of common global mobile broadband standards and solutions for users who operate in a mission critical or business critical environment.

The Marketing Group (MG)The Marketing Group develops and co-ordinates the integrated marketing communications activity of TCCA, positioning and raising the profile of the Association’s work through the events programme, media engagement and other market-facing activities.

The Operator User Association (OUA)A forum for knowledge exchange between operators and users of critical communications systems. In close co-operation with ETSI Working Groups, new user requirements are identified, and converted into Service Overviews. The OUA carries the responsibility of collecting and

submitting user priorities to the Technical Forum.

Radio Spectrum Group (RSG)TCCA’s Radio Spectrum Group promotes the value of dedicated spectrum for critical communications to regulators, mission critical operators and the wider critical communications industry.

SCADA, Smart Grid and Telemetry Working Group (SSTWG)A forum for users, manufacturers, system integrators and developers to share experiences and requirements, and catalyse the market for critical communications. Its aim is to encourage and support the development of suitable solutions, both for traditional SCADA and telemetry and for new application areas such as smart grids and the Internet of Things (IoT).

The Security and Fraud Prevention Group (SFPG)The SFPG prepares and manages recommendations on use of encryption in critical communications networks, and controls access to restricted technical information.

The Technical Forum (TF)Among other responsibilities this group converts the service overviews into profile and test documents which will be used for the Interoperability Testing and Certification. The TF provides a key forum for technical knowledge exchange.

TETRA Industry Group (TIG)TIG works to promote TETRA, develop the technology and advocate an evolutionary path towards future solutions for the mission-critical communications market that TETRA serves, based on open standards.

It develops expertise on the strengths of TETRA and LTE as competing, complementary or integrated solutions for this market.

Transportation Group (TG)A platform for everyone interested in critical communications implementation in the transportation sector, including railways, metros, trams, buses, sea ports, harbours and airports. Participants share experiences and information, focusing on the market potential for future projects as well as representing users’ interests.

By participating in any of these Working Groups and/or having access to the Members Only area of www.tcca.info, members also gain early access to new technical documents and participate in member enquiry stages to express their views prior to publication.

Regional Forums

There are a number of regional TCCA Forums with membership specific to a country or region. These provide a platform for localised technology promotion and also support Association initiatives to help national members to get maximum benefit.
