BIOS Recovery by using Crisis Disk 1. BIOS Recovery Boot Block: BIOS Recovery Boot Block is a special block of BIOS. It is used to boot up the system with minimum BIOS initialization. Users can enable this feature to restore the BIOS firmware to a successful one once the previous BIOS flashing process failed. 2. BIOS Recovery Hotkey: The model provides a function hotkey: Fn+Esc, for enable BIOS Recovery process when system is powered on during BIOS POST. To use this function, it is strongly recommended to have the coexistence of AC and Battery powers. If this function is enabled, the system will force the BIOS to enter a special BIOS block, called Boot Block. 3. The Steps for BIOS Recovery by Crisis Disk: Before doing this, one Crisis Disk should be prepared ready in hand. The Crisis Disk could be made by executing the Crisis Disk program in another system with Windows XP/Vista OS. (Next Page for Crisis Disk making process) Follow below steps: i. Power Off system. ii. Insert the Crisis Disk to a USB key which is attached to the BIOS flash failed machine. iii. In the power-off state, press Fn+Esc and hold them. Then press Power Button. The system should be powered on with Crisis BIOS Recovery process. iv. BIOS Boot Block starts to restore the BIOS code from the Crisis USB key to BIOS ROM on the failed machine. v. If the Crisis flashing process is finished, the system will restart. If the Crisis Recovery process is finished, the system should be powered on with successful and workable BIOS. Then a person can update the latest version BIOS for this machine by regular BIOS flashing process.

BIOS Recovery by using Crisis Disk

1. BIOS Recovery Boot Block:

BIOS Recovery Boot Block is a special block of BIOS. It is used to boot up the system with minimum BIOS initialization. Users can enable this feature to restore the BIOS firmware to a successful one once the previous BIOS flashing process failed.

2. BIOS Recovery Hotkey:

Follow below steps:

i. Power Off system.

ii. Insert the Crisis Disk to a USB key which is attached to the BIOS flash failed machine.

iii. In the power-off state, press Fn+Esc and hold them. Then press Power Button. The system should be powered on with Crisis BIOS Recovery process.

iv. BIOS Boot Block starts to restore the BIOS code from the Crisis USB key to BIOS ROM on the failed machine.

v. If the Crisis flashing process is finished, the system will restart.

If the Crisis Recovery process is finished, the system should be powered on with successful and workable BIOS. Then a person can update the latest version BIOS for this machine by regular BIOS flashing process.

Crisis Disk Making in Windows XP/Vista

Step 0

- Prepare a removable USB storage (Size greater than 10MB)

- Another system with Windows XP or Vista operation system

- Be notice that whole data on this USB storage will be cleared during the Crisis Disk making

Step 1

Unzip Crisis Package Source and select “WINCRIS.EXE” (Run as administrator in Vista)

Step 2

- Keep the default setting then clicke the “Start” button

Step 4

- Pop up warning page then press the “OK” to making Crisis Disk

- After few seconds, Crisis Disk making process finished.

- Press “No” if you don’t need another Crisis Disk

Step 7

- Re-plug the USB removable storage and checking the content with 3 files
