Flight Readiness ReviewFriday
• Teams must arrive on time for flight readiness review
• Late arrivals will lose points.
• CanSats must be presented in flight configuration
• CanSats should be complete with no additional work needed. This is equivalent to delivering a satellite to the launch provider.
• CanSats will be inspected
• Structural integrity inspection
• Communications check
• Drop test to be performed
•Ground station operations to be demonstrated
•CanSats do not fly unless they pass flight readiness review
Data and PFR Submission
• All teams will receive two thumb drives at flight readiness review
• One thumb drive is for ground station data
• At the field download the data and submit to check in table
• Second thumb drive is for PFR slides
• All slides are to be submitted by 08:45 Sunday.
• Late submissions lose 30% PFR points.
• Slides must be in PDF format.

Launch Day
●Dining hall open for breakfast 5am.
●Buses will travel between Dorms and Field.
● Pick up on Rome Ave Side of Dorm.
● First bus expected to leave by 07:00.
● Find a table under the tent and start preparations.
●Lunch available at 11:30.
●Before NOON
● Go to Check-in area.
● Get final cansat weight
● Get an egg payload
● Prepare CanSat
● Turn in for holding until launch time
Sequence of Events at the Field
●Before Noon
● Check-in
● Prepare CanSats for Launch
● Turn in CanSat at noon. Be in line with CanSat at noon or lose points.
● Must be turned off.
● Launches starts at 13:00
● Rocket loading starts at 12:45
Launch Operations
● First round of launches start loading Cansats in Rocket at 12:45
● Turn on CanSat and place it in Rocket.
● Rockets to be placed on launch pads when loaded.
● All flights to be completed by end of half hour.
● Next round start prepping during previous round.
●Take ground station to GS tables.
●When previous team is done, take their place.
Launch Sequence
Mission Control Officer is in charge of the launch.
Communicate with each other.
1. Mission control officer verifies ground station is ready.
2. Mission control officer verifies recovery crew is ready.
3. Mission control officer will give go ahead to launch.
4. CanSat is launched.
Recovery
Check in with a field judge when you go out and when you come back so we know who is still out in the field and lost.
Collect your cansat and any other bits that fell off.
– Return the rocket if located.
Turn off all electronics in the field.
Walk along edge of field and keep an eye out for falling objects.
Return to check-in for egg check and submit first thumb drive with ground station collected data.
It is possible some CanSats will be lost.

Keep presentations to 15 minutes and allow no more than 5 minutes for questions
If one team completes presentation early or does not show up, we move up schedule
• Show up before your time slot

30 to 45 minutes after presentation

Bad Weather
While at the field
– Stop launch during periods of rain
– If lightning, shelter in vehicles
– Tornado, huddle in ditches, hold tight
Saturday rained out
– Launch on Sunday, skip the PFR
Sunday rained out
– We'll make things up
Rules of the Competition
I have the last say
Mr. Merwin the launch director has the last say on flight operations and field use
Drink plenty of water
Clean up any trash
Use sunscreen
No alcohol on the field
Smoke only in designated area
– Field may be dry. Don't set the field on fire
Enjoy the day
Be Nice To the Field
● We are invited guests.
● Treat the land as it is your own
● Leave it cleaner than before we arrived
● Pick up any trash you come across

What to Avoid in the Field
Rattle snakes
Don't go looking for them. They aren't looking for your
Stay clear of rocks, holes, dense brush, abandoned structures, trailers
Tarantulas
Not poisonous
Don't play with them, they do bite
Wild Boar
They should be in hiding but don't go looking.
• They are big and mean. Tasty too.
