• Cretaceous Period lasted 71 million years.
• Extinction occurred around 65.5 million years ago.
• Species were mostly dinosaurs and reptiles.
Extinction
• The Cretaceous Tertiary mass extinction took place 65 million years ago.
• 75% of species got extinct.
• Non – avian Dinosaurs • Pterosaurs• Marine reptiles (Not all)
Facts
• During that time, marine reptiles, ammonites, and dinosaurs were there.
• Hot warm climate.• The end of this period created division
between Mesozoic and Cenozoic eras.• Scientists think it could have been gradual
instead of a very quick extinction.
Causes
• Scientists believe it was caused by a giant meteor.
• Another theory, is that there were several strong volcanoes explosions and the ahes cover up the sun.
