Crestor TabletsIndicationsHypercholesterolaemia:Reduce elevated LDL-C, totalcholesterol, triglycerides and toincrease HDL cholesterol in patientswith primary hypercholesterolaemia(heterozygous familial and nonfamilial) and mixed dyslipidaemia. The dosage of Crestorfor various indications is given below:Prevention Of Major Cardiovascular Events:A dose of 20 mg once daily has been found toreduce the risk of major cardiovascular events.Hypercholesterolaemia:The usual dose range is 10 - 40 mg orally once aday. Crestor TabletsRecommended DosagePrimary hypercholesterolaemia, mixeddyslipidaemia and isolatedhypertriglyceridaemia:The usual start dose is 10 mg once a day. Forpatients with severe hypercholesterolaemia, astart dose of 20 mg may be considered.Homozygous familialhypercholesterolaemia:For patients with homozygous familialhypercholesterolaemia a start dose of 20 mgonce a day is recommended. Crestor TabletsSide Effects of Crestor Tablets(Rosuvastatin calcium)The most frequent side effects includeHeadache, myalgia, asthenia, constipation,dizziness, nausea, abdominal pain. Theuncommon side effects include Pruritus, rashand urticaria.Rare side effects include Myopathy (includingmyositis), hypersensitivity reactions (includingangioedema), rhabdomyolysis, pancreatitis. Crestor TabletsWarnings And PrecautionsLiver: Liver function tests should be performedbefore initiation of treatment and periodicallythereafter.Skeletal Muscle: As with other HMG-CoA reductaseinhibitors, effects on skeletal muscle eg.uncomplicated myalgia, myopathy and, rarely,rhabdomyolysis, have been reported in patientstreated with rosuvastatinRace: Pharmacokinetic studies show an increase inexposure in Asian subjects compared withCaucasians The Swiss Pharmacy, Geneva Switzerland 11. Crestor TabletsWarnings And PrecautionsDiabetes Mellitus: There is sufficient evidence to supportan association between statin use and new onset type 2diabetes mellitus; however the risk appears to be mainly inpatients already at increased risk of developing type 2diabetes. Risk factors for the development of type 2diabetes include raised fasting blood glucose, history ofhypertension, raised triglycerides and raised body massindex.Interstitial Lung Disease: Exceptional cases of interstitiallung disease have been reported with some statins,especially with long term therapy. Crestor TabletsWarnings And PrecautionsChildren And Adolescents 10 To 17 Years Of Age: Theevaluation of linear growth (height), weight, BMI (bodymass index), and secondary characteristics of sexualmaturation by Tanner staging in paediatric patients takingCrestor is limited to a one year periodEffect On Ability To Drive And UseMachines:Pharmacology testing revealed no evidence of asedative effect of crestor. From the safety profile, Crestoris not expected to adversely affect the ability to drive oruse machines.Pregnancy And Lactation: The safety of Crestor Tablets(Rosuvastatin calcium) during pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding has not been established. Crestor TabletsOverdose TreatmentThere is no specific treatment in theevent of overdose of Crestor Tablets(Rosuvastatin calcium).
