Thankfully the rain stayed away and once again, Crescent Head Beach provided the perfect conditions for our annual Cross Country run last Wednesday. Thank you to all the parents, grandparents and friends that came down to cheer us along. Congratulations to all the students who ran on the day and to those students who were unable to run but still turned up to cheer on their mates. See results in the sports section inside.

ENVIRONMENTAL FAIR

Friday saw the students showcasing the many different environmental programs to their fellow students. Mr Lobb and the Environmental Group created exhibits around such things as waste sorting, plastics alternatives, batteries and energy, plastics in the ocean, chicken and bee keeping, sustainable crops and waste free lunchboxes. Each exhibit was accompanied by a team of junior experts who eagerly presented information on their topic to groups of students and teachers. Thank you to families who contributed items to this event and thank you to Mr Lobb and the Environmental group, your work is bringing us one step closer to saving our planet.

MOTHER’S DAY STALL THIS FRIDAY 10TH MAY

This Friday 10th May the P & C will hold a Mother’s Day Stall from 9:30am in the Library. We have a great range of wonderful gifts on sale - prices ranging from $1 - $20. All proceeds will go to the P & C and help with our new playground equipment.

Our Term 1 Win Bin Dinner winners enjoyed a delicious lunch at the end of last term.

PARENT/TEACHER INTERVIEWS

This week we will be holding parent teacher interviews for all classes except for 5/6L whose interviews will be in week 4. These interviews are an opportunity to gain information about your child’s progress and to plan for future learning. Today we held interviews for KL, 3/4D and 5/6M. Tomorrow will be 3/4Ws interviews followed by 1F and 1/2G on Wednesday. If you have not made an appointment with your teachers for an interview please contact the school as soon as possible to make arrangements with your child’s teacher. NAPLAN GOING ONLINE

Week 3 this term will be our first official NAPLAN online assessments. Throughout this week the Years 3 and 5 students will take part in reading, writing, numeracy, grammar and spelling assessments that this year for the first time will take place online. Good luck to all our students sitting these assessments.

Crescent Head Community Preschool has vacancies for 2019 and is now taking enrolments. In accordance with State Funding Guidelines priority access is given to children who will turn 4 by the 31st July 2019 and children from families who hold a Low Income Health Care Card. SURFING FOR SPORT

Year 5 and 6 children took part in their 200m proficiency swim last Friday afternoon. This swim proved that they were competent swimmers, able to take part in this term’s surfing program. This Friday Mr Edwards and Dundee will begin the surfing program that teaches children all aspects of this sport from looking for signs of danger in the surf through to catching and riding waves successfully.

LOWER NORTH COAST CROSS COUNTRY

The LNC Cross Country will be held at Kempsey Racecourse on Monday 27th May 2018. Mrs Munday will send home notes as soon as they are available. Please note that not everyone who received a ribbon will be eligible to participate at this event due to the age group divisions that are set by the Primary Schools Sports Association. Please let Mrs Munday know ASAP if you are unable to participate and she will organise a replacement.

SAVE THE DATE – CHPS ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

The CHPS Athletics Carnival will be held at Kempsey on Friday 14th June 2019.

MACLEAY NETBALL TRIALS

Ashlee Kennedy, Briella Petterson and Jessie Cornish will trial for the Lower North Coast Netball team at Kempsey tomorrow, 7th May. Good luck girls.

SURFING

Surfing for Sport starts this Friday for students in Years 5 and 6. Please make sure that if you are involved in these lessons that you are organised and prepared before you come to school on Friday. Surfing will take place between recess and lunch.

DONATIONS TO THE CHPS GARDEN

We are currently seeking donations of seeds, seedlings or potting mix for our garden beds and pots. Even the smallest items would be appreciated. SCHOOL BANKING DAY IS NOW TUESDAY

Our School Banking day has changed from Friday to Tuesday as of Week 1 Term 2. Please ensure that Dollarmites deposit wallets are now brought into school on Tuesday mornings. Any wallets received on any other day will be sent home with a reminder note that the School Banking day has changed to Tuesday. Please note that this is due to the privacy and security of your child/ren’s banking information. Thank you for supporting the School Banking program at our school.
