IntroductionIt is finally summer in Coldwater, Maine
and everything seems to be going well with Patch (Nora’s guardian angel) and Nora. However, things change when Patch becomes distant and she finds out he has been hanging around Marcie Millar, who is out to get Nora. On top of her Marcie troubles, an old friend of Nora comes back in town and stirs up trouble. Nora begins to question Scott Parnell and discovers a dark secret he has been keeping. She also begins to see her dead father and learns shocking details about her father’s killer in this thrilling novel.
Protagonist-
Nora Grey
Nora Grey is the main character and protagonist. She is a straight-A student, and is very practical and responsible; until she meets Patch. She becomes bolder and ends up getting in lots of trouble, including almost dying.
Antagonist-
Rixon
Rixon is Patch’s best friend and is also Vee’s boyfriend. He is a fallen angel. In the second installment of the Hush, Hush series the reader finds out a deep dark secret he has been hiding.
Central ConflictNora’s father was murdered when
she was younger and know one knows who killed him or why, until now. Patch has to find ways to protect Nora from the same killer without the Arch Angels finding out or he will be sent to Hell. In Crescendo, Nora is given several hints at her father’s killer’s identity that cause her to doubt Patch. She knows that the killer isn’t human and has something to do with the fallen angels, but who could it be?
Minor Character
s-
Vee Sky
Vee Sky is Nora’s best friend. She is the exact opposite of her: loud, adventuresome, and boisterous. She is described as being "a few pounds over curvy” and is very loyal to Nora. She has a strong sense of humor but is often very immature.
Patch Cipriano Patch was a fallen angel but gained his guardian angel status back after saving Nora’s life. He is very mysterious and is always in dark jeans and a black t-shirt. He often seems brooding and is always trying to keep Nora safe whether she knows it or not, which causes strain on their relationship.
Scott ParnellScott Parnell is
an old friend of Nora who comes back to Coldwater, Maine, to get away from his troubles. He is always wearing a pink Hawaiian print hat. He is Nephilim, half-angel half-human, and is deep in a Nephilim Blood Society. He also has a dark past that intrigues Nora.

novelnovice.comBecca Fitzpatrick
takes the reader on and emotional roller coaster ride in Crescendo, as she continues with the second installment of the Hush, Hush series. She makes the reader wonder what the characters are actually thinking and sympathize with them. Fitzpatrick balances a normal teen life with the supernatural to seamlessly create a wonderful action packed novel.
Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick attracts readers of all ages. It still contains all of her signature action scenes but takes a more serious tone as the drama increases. Fitzpatrick knows exactly who her audience is and gears her writing towards teen interests. However, it is a bit long and the story becomes a bit tedious to read, but the conclusion of the book makes up for it.
I say...I thought Crescendo was a
very good book. It was very suspenseful and I didn’t want to put it down. I didn’t agree with the critiques who said that the plot dragged. It led you up to the climax and make you want to keep reading it to find out what happened next. Some parts seemed to be regurgitations of other young adult fiction books but for the most part I found it to be a good read.
