Page 2: Credits and titles conventions

What is the difference between titles/credits?

• Titles is the name of the movie/trailer and is normally in big and is suppose the movie/trailer name.

• Also some of the credits have critics in the sequence.

• Credits are when a movie or a trailer gets a certain person or company credit for taking part in a movie. They are like thankyou’s and acknowledging what the person has taken part in, in the movie. For example they put the persons name and then that they worked on music or a special effects artist.

What do they say/ what are they about?

• The main title would say the movies title for example: Iron Man 2.• They also have the titles of the company they are working with for

example in the beginning they would have the companies name On an image right before the movie starts like the 20th century fox.

• Credits would have different areas like: • The person would worked with the CGI • The person who done the music • The costume • The actors and the extras • The companies that they collaborated with to make the movie.• They also have the titles of when the movie is coming out 9if it’s a

trailer. • Sometimes they would have extra things about the movie so they

add it in as a title like a size you could go to.

Who and what are they about?

• They are about the people that have participated in the movie from the extras to the companies and main actors/characters in the movie.

• This is to give the person or the company credit for the part they have taken in the movie and that also helps them become popular with the audience so it works for the movie makers and also the companies or the people who are taking part in that movie.

• Sometimes the sequence will introduce you to the characters.

Page 5: Credits and titles conventions

Why?

• Their purpose is to help acknowledge the people that have taken part in the movie because they need to be given credit for the work they done and it also helps the audience become familiar with who they are and it helps their popularity grow.

• For example if there is a company that got credit in one of the movie that was really popular with the audience it means that the next movie they help to release the audience will automatically want to watch because they got credit in such a great movie that they helped to make and now they are popular with the audience.

When? • When they appear: Normally the title of the movie is

usually in the beginning of the trailer and sometimes to give a more tense atmosphere they but the title at the end.

• Sometimes within the trailer they add credits to the critics within the trailer when the trailer has a less tense moment so there will be space for a critic and not take to much attention away from the trailer.

• Or sometimes they appear when there is a change in the scene in the sequence.

• How long they last: They don’t last long they are normally 2-3 seconds long because they cannot be so long or else the trailer will loose the audiences concentration.

• How close they are together: they are normally separate into and even time otherwise it would be to much.

Where are the titles placed in the sequence?

• Sometimes the title is placed in the beginning of the sequence but sometimes its placed at the end to have a more tense moment towards what the name of the movie is making the audience want to watch it.

• When its at the end of the sequence its like a reveal of the movie . Giving it a feeling of you need to watch this movie.
