Before 1990 there were very few Child Health and

Disability Rehabilitation facilities in Hyderabad. A

motivated group of 13 lecturers (three among

them were the mothers of a special children) from

R. B. V. R. R. Women's College (Narayanaguda) have

planned to start a voluntary organization to serve

the poor and marginal communities. Subsequently,

the Manasa Institute was established on 26/02/1991

as registered a non- profit organisation.

Today, Manasa Institute of Child Health & Disability

Studies (MICHADS) run in a four storied own

building located in Mohan Nagar, Hyderabad;

equipped with completely barrier free premises;

offering Child Health and Rehab clinical and

community services and taking up training,

extension and research programmes in Telangana &

Andhra Pradesh states and spreading further through

contextual programmes in other parts of India.
