Pacing GuideO Suggested pacingO Each unit also has an additional
week for re-teaching and enrichment that is not accounted for
O Some of the re-teaching and enrichment weeks will need to be used for CMT preparation in grades 3 – 5
O CREC Gr 1 Pacing Guide
Unit PlanO This is the starting point for each
unit and where most of what you will need can be found
O UbD FormatO Make sure to use electronic
documentO Under Construction!
O CREC Grade 1 Unit 1
Unit Tracking SheetO Optional O Can be used to help track student
outcomes for unit
O CREC Grade 1 Unit tracking
Journal PromptsO With the new CCSSM Practice
Standards, we need to ensure our students are communicating on a regular basis.
O 2 per weekO Aligned to unit standardsO Kindergarten – can be used as
evidence for MPCO Grades K – 2: MS Word docO Grades 3 – 5: Labels or MS Word doc
Unit AssessmentsO Not Optional – data will be entered in
Performance PathwaysO Embedded in Unit PlanO Were written with the rigor of the
CCSSM and Smarterbalanced specifications
O Grade 1 has an oral assessment and written assessment for first two units to build test-taking stamina and skills
Unit Performance Tasks
O Pilot this yearO Embedded in Unit PlanO Use instructionally and as formative dataO Math Performance RubricO Build student capacity to complete tasks
O First task should be launched togetherO Second task could be done in pairs
depending on needs of class/grade levelO I will collect feedback and student
samples for each task
Unit Mapping TemplateO Useful to help you plan the unitO Will be template used during unit
planning parties
O Unit Mapping template
CMT CrosswalksO Identifies where strands are being
addressed in curriculum. You can embed “CMT-like” questions as appropriate.
O Identifies which strands may need to be supplemented and when (e.g. probability)
O Use data to inform your instruction for those strands that students should have already attained mastery ofO Target only those students who need
supportO CMT review can be part of your morning
work, math message/warm-up, or homework.
General ResourcesO Vocabulary
O Word wall is a must with new curriculumO Don’t just put words up on the wall,
make sure students interact with the words. O With older students, have them create the
word wallO Unit Mapping Template
O Useful to help you plan the unitO Will be template used during unit
planning parties
Fact Fluency PlanO DRAFT!O Defines fluencyO Outlines suggested expectationsO Gives suggestions for
monitoring/trackingO Gives suggestions for instructional
models/ activities

O Unit Planning PartiesO Grade level meetingsO After school
O Unit Planning TipsO Feedback encouraged
10 Minutes
O When you return, please sit with your grade level team/grade levelO Essentialists/Others – sit with the
grade level you worked with in January or your choice
Unit Planning PartyO Check out your resourcesO Debrief with your grade level partner about the work
that was done at your grade levelO Important points
O Read through unit planO Make sure you understand the intent of the unitO Be careful that you are staying within the scope of the
standards for your grade (expectations have changed)O Remember that students will be coming to you with
possibly less (or more) prior experience, depending on the topic
O Map the unit by identifying daily objectives first and then learning tasksO Multiple resources means you need to pick the best
bang for your buck!
