compensated for by the tail. The tail also acts as a counter balancethat allows the creature to move very quickly.
In further refinement of the head I looked at other sharks. Thegreat white senses its environment through receptors in its nose, however to look around and see it maneuvers its entire body. Forland, unless on an open plane this would be very impractical, so Ilooked at other sharks that have greater head movement and theevolutionary traits that allow this.
From this research I started doing initial designs for the creature.

Great White sharks hunt their prey in the surf, and have evolved ahighly effective attack method. By swimming deep down below the
surf, the shark turns and swims straight up, the sharks size as wellas its buoyancy and up thrust from the water pressure allow theshark to reach greats speeds in the swim.

This allows the shark to breach the water surface and project itselfout of the water.

This breaching attack is something I want reflected in the landshark. In reviewing this I considered a jumping pounce attack, andbegan looking at different creatures with these attribute.
From my research I looked at various pounces and jumps, such ascats and how they rear back before jumping, however none of thecreatures that I reviewed held the kind of weight that my sharkholds. From this I came to look at frogs and toad.
Frogs have an immensely powerful jump and relations to their sizeare, projecting themselves great distances at great speed. Alsotheir size, in relation to its extremities, are similar to the shark
design.
I felt the frogs legs and jump would be the perfect archetype frorecreating the sharks breaching attack on land.

With these aspects I began to design the rear half of the shark and
produce complete designs.

In regards to the tail I gave the shark a long tail to counter balancethe head this would give it greater control when projecting itselfthrough the air.
Finally I began looking at the sharks skin and what kind ofcamouflage the creature would evolve on land. Naturally this wouldbe directly linked to the environment. How the layout of the pattern
would need to reflect shark evolution.
Shark lives underwater and the camouflage they evolved isreflective of the light refraction from the water.
However a particular breed of shark has a highly evolvedcamouflage the aptly named Tiger Shark.

rising from the ground and the highly sugar filled nectar they feedon they have been able to become very successful flyer.
The same too for humming bird, their wingspan in relation to their
size should make flight impossible, however the rate at which theybeat their wings allows them the lift they need for flight.
With feature to consider ire designed the insects body and wingsto incorporate these attribute.

Water Parasite
The water parasite was the last creature I designed for theindigenous species. Various types of parasitic worms inspired thebasic design. What was more creative was the creature gestate lifecycle that required hosts to propagate its food and development.

The initial design was around a flat type worm that could moveacross a riverbed. The first designs were split between a creaturewith legs and one with tentacles.
I settled for the tentacles, and I felt that it would allow the creature
the best functionality of movement under water moving across ariver or streambed.

After mating the male would reenter the blood stream and travel tothe brain, there it would secrete chemical that stimulate receptorsin the brain, making the host feel increasingly thirsty. The purposeof which is to drive the host to water so the female can finish its lifecycle in a stream.
Simultaneously the female travels to the colon and waits for thehost to die before exiting the body.
The male will continuously stimulate the brain, but also begin tofeed of the brain tissue. This would eventually cause the creaturesdeath.
Once the host reaches water it will continue to drink until iteventually dies. This signals the female to exit the host and enterthe near by water supply. The female enter the water andcontinues the life cycle.
