Programme for the Day 9.25am Creative Spaces Challenge by Doug Binnie 9.35am Design Brief and Instructions issued – group work begins in College Workshops 10.15am End of teacher’s involvement with groups 12.00pm Break for lunch, College Refectory (food cannot be taken to working area).
12.30pm Resume group work 2.00pm Judges “Walkabout” 3.00pm Group presentations (2 minutes per group) 4.00pm Judges decision and presentation of award in the main Auditorium 4.30pm End of event (All times are approximate)

Design a Multi Purpose School Building in a Woodland Setting
Construct a model of your design
Work out the costs of your design work
Make a 2 minute presentation to the judges

• ‘Design Brief’ issued to teams in workshop
• Take time to read it thoroughly!!
• School teachers can be consulted for the first 45 minutes ONLY! • Be careful and selective with the model materials
• Experts on hand throughout the day
• Decide quickly which team member will be doing which task

Why Design? Why Building Surveying? Why Construction? Three short presentation have been arranged back in the auditorium from 10.30am courtesy of Dundee Institute of Architects, Dundee College and RICS and there will be a chance to tour the practical workshops later

The Judges
Judges assessment begins early afternoon
The judges will be looking for the presentation that provides the most imaginative and appropriate and ‘creative’ design solution The marking by each of the four judges will be scored as follows Design Idea…..40 Quality of the Model and the Drawing……30 Quality of the 2 minute presentation……20 Accuracy of the Costings……10
This will give a total of 100 marks per judge.
Prizes
Winning team to receive trophy for school
Winning team to receive £500 for school
Winning team members receive £50 each
Runner up prizes of cash for the 2nd and 3rd placed schools and gift vouchers for each of
the team members
Feedback
2 Forms will be issued over the next week 1 to be answered by the Students 1 to be answered by their Teacher This will help us plan such an event in the future so we need your response
