I am an independent creative producer based in the North.

Following a successful career in the arts and heritage sector, I now specialise in producing cultural events and projects that bring places, products and stories to life.

I studied at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama graduating in 2006.

Across my work history I have gained a deep understanding of designing and realising creative programmes for audiences. I produce, manage and commission creative programmes to deliver success against business and audience development aims; projects, events, learning activity, exhibitions, volunteer programmes and funding schemes.

As a freelance producer I can support your creative projects to enhance brand, generate profile and support customer development. I’m interested in creating bespoke experiences, carefully curated for audiences. I love ambitious ideas and I’m at my best when working collaboratively with a sense of fun and focus.

If you have a creative project that you want to get off the ground I’d love to hear from you. Get in touch to discuss how I could support your enterprise.

LUX was a contemporary group art exhibition at National Trust, Cragside.

I oversaw and implemented the creation of a commission process from brief to realisation for a destination programme designed to generate large volumes of visitors over the summer period. Cragside is known as one of the first houses to be lit by hydro-electric power so artists were asked to respond to the theme of light. Working with curatorial support agency Arts and Heritage I created the commissioning documents, liaised with the artists, supported the executive team through a selection and appointment process, managed the contractual and finance agreements, the installation schedule and launch events.

We appointed six artists to create seven installations.

Catherine Bertola - In Pursuit of Perfection

Andrew Burton - Light Vessel

Imogen Cloet - Illumine

Jem Finer - Spiegelei

Dan Fox - Harmonica Botanica and Filharmonic

Bob Levene - Source

These projects were particularly successful in attracting visitors to the property and increasing secondary spend.

The project budget was £60,000 and was part funded by Arts Council England.

The restoration of this famous locomotive was a major opportunity for the National Railway Museum to explore the fame and celebrity of Flying Scotsman.

I project managed a season of events and activities celebrating the restoration of the famous locomotive Flying Scotsman. The programme focused on the cultural impact and personality of Flying Scotsman to attract a different audience to the museum and to bring awareness of railways into the national psyche. This project included the inaugural steam run from London Kings Cross to York, a museum exhibition, a ticketed immersive experience, a series of photography events, a new science show, the museums’ first ever Lates event as well as putting the engine on display in the museum and providing cab access for the public.

This was a particularly complex project, with many conflicting priorities and challenges, stakeholders and a significant amount of investment required to meet the ambitions of the creative programme. There were several packages of work within this project and I provided the central coordination to ensure good communication and implementation of all the work required across the project team.

The programme ran for six months and saw an 80,000 visitor increase to the museum.

The project budget was £350,000 and was funded by Science Museum Group with support from project sponsors Virgin Trains East Coast and Friends of the National Railway Museum.

Bridges is an animated film and musical composition by Ed Carter. The work was commissioned by Sage Gateshead as part of the Great Exhibition of the North.

I oversaw the creation of this commission on behalf of Sage Gateshead, working alongside artist Ed Carter. This work featured as part of Sage Gateshead’s ambition to increase family engagement and provided the content for a full summer programme.

It is a magical tale following the journey of a man, a dog and their small fishing boat on the River Tyne. The characters overcome a series of musical challenges as they navigate the waters and the seven bridges of the Tyne. The work features animation created by NOVAK studios and a music score recorded by the Royal Northern Sinfonia Orchestra.

The project budget was £40,000 and was funded by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport. edcarter.net
