Course Objectives

Course Objectives:

To train participants to undergo a wide range of therapeutic movement activities to overcome their own bodily inhibitions, to develop a strong personal

movement language (expression and communication of their thoughts, feelings and ideas through their bodies) and to therefore be able to read and recognize

movement cues and signals coming from their peers in the course or clients they work with.

To expose participants to the strong linkages between theoretical frameworks in Creative Movement Therapy and its wide range of therapeutic movement

activities in terms of its practice.

To train participants to conduct movement observation-evaluation-assessment of clients, design session plans, draw up short and long term goals and do self-

evaluations of their own movement repertoire and facilitation skills.

To train participants to be able to give instructions or facilitate and co-facilitate with ease, therapeutic-expressive-creative movement activities in group and

individuals settings followed by leading verbal reflection / processing and de-briefing of sessions.

To train participants to develop the capacity to integrate therapeutic movement as an adjunct modality with their own work with clients. eg Movement to be

combined with verbal counselling or Hypno-therapy and other healing modalities that they use in their own sessions

To train participants to create their own movement activities basket as well as grading and sequencing them, based on different therapeutic heads - eg self

awareness, movement development, attunement, group synchrony among many others.

60 Hour Certificate Course: “Creative Movement Therapy”

Creative Movement therapy (CMT) is a form of dance therapy which uses the body’s natural movements to achieve a balance between emotional, cognitive,

social and physical facets in individuals. Eventually, students evolve a strong, personal movement language to enhance their holistic growth leading to healthier

functioning.

Course content: This intensive module offers theoretical frameworks and creative-healing movement experiences from dance therapy. It also includes evolution,

principles, goals, approaches and techniques of the discipline used in group & individual work. Alongside, students are trained in facilitation skills, structuring of

sessions, verbal processing and movement analysis.

Participants will experience their own journey through personal process work. Ultimately, the course will enable participants to utilize movement therapy with

groups or individuals consisting of children, adolescents, adults & the elderly (with & without therapeutic needs).
