He’s known for his puns and fun-loving personality, and his deep well of wisdom. Dainill is our current board president. She’s a native New Orleanian, a mother of three, and an amazing poet. Her passion for this work is also shown in co-hosting Center brunches and feeding our neighbors via the Food Bank.

Susan Elliott musical guest

Susan Elliott is an award-winning Hou-ston-based vocalist, songwriter, producer, and teacher. She made her solo debut at the historic Ander-son Fair in the spring of 2017, and for

more than three decades, she and her late husband and creative partner, Joe Romano, were a fixture in the Houston jazz community as the duo Mood Indigo, delighting audiences across the region, per-forming their original songs for chil-dren as The Non-Toxic Band. When Joe was diagnosed with cancer in 2015, Susan found an emotional and creative outlet in songwriting. She describes her music as genre-less, but a background in theater and her long association with the jazz world are evident in both her singing and writing. Harmonically complex, inti-mate and lyrical, her songs paint a portrait of the human condition, weaving narratives that are both deeply personal and universally reso-nant. Hear her , 8.

Arthur Johnson Sunday seminars return!

Minister Arthur Johnson presents a four-part seminar series on Your Invisible Power: The Great Secret of Success. Genevieve

Behrend was the only personal student of Thomas Troward, the master of “Mental Science.” In her memorable masterwork, Your Invisi-ble Power, she teaches how to use the power of visualization and other processes taught by Thomas Troward to transform your life. You really can be, do and achieve what you want in life. Your power and potential is un-limited. Behrend says, “We all possess more power and greater possibilities than we realize, and visualizing is one of the greatest of these powers. It brings other possibilities to our observation.” , 1:00-3:00 , starting 8. All are welcome; appreciative giving ($20 suggested). Please sign up in Builders’ Hall. For more information...

what we do

The CLC Children’s and Youth Services Department is devoted to celebrating the spiritual develop-ment of each child we teach. All age groups are involved in various activi-ties, workshops, and special projects incorporating the teachings of Sci-ence of Mind. We strive to create an atmosphere of love and kindness in our words and actions toward each other and to recognize and honor the diversity of every person.

• Toddlers (18 mos. to age 3) are lovingly cared for by our toddler teachers. In their very artistically designed Discovery Room, the children are encouraged to interact and experience their world as only a toddler can. They are offered games, toys, books and other age-appro-priate activities in a safe, secure and loving environment.

• 4-6 age group. Beginning around the age of 4, our toddlers are moved to the Ingenuity Room. This group begins to learn the basics of treatment and the value of giving a smile and a kind word. Our creative teachers provide age-appropriate instruction and activities.

• 7-12 age group are in the Quimby Room, regularly practicing the steps of Treatment presented in a manner appropriate to their age group. The teachers provide learning tools, creative projects, workshops and other teaching methods to en-gage each child’s learning of the principles of Science of Mind.

• 13-17 age group meets on the second floor of the Learning Center in the Hopkins classroom. They are engaged in special projects, work-shops, have guest speakers and are involved in several volunteer service endeavors at CLC. The teachers work-ing with this group encourage their talents, keep them engaged in learn-ing Science of Mind principles and we throw in some fun along the way!

SUNDAY CIRCLES Children begin their learning adventures in the registration area in the youth foyer, 10:15-11 on , then move to their classes, to be reunited with their parents in the Great Hall in time for the closing song. Some Sundays we offer special theme workshops for the kids, too. Age-appropriate prayer/treatment opens all the classes, and for each class there is age-appropriate discussion of the monthly theme

and creative projects to enhance the learning. Just after noon all the teachers and children gather in the reception area of the Learning Center for our closing prayer circle. Then the teachers bring the children to you in the Great Hall. Please remember that no youth are to roam the Center grounds unattended. Our coordinating Sunday minister is Marsha Lehman at [email protected], assisted by practitioners Linda Clesson and Marissa Mijal. Our youth minister and chaplain is Debra Morwood at [email protected].

teach our children well...  We teach our children that God is Life—the Life within each of them and in all Creation—that all people are children of the One God, and therefore, are all brothers and sisters. • We teach that God is all-inclusive and we are each created in the image of God—Good. • We teach that God is Love, and we honor God-in-all through love, not fear. • We teach that sin is simply a mistake and when we make mistakes, we are punished by them, not by God. • We teach that God is Spirit and present everywhere, that this Spirit is within us and speaks to us through our minds when we are willing to listen. • We teach that there are spiritual laws that must be understood and followed, just as we follow human laws. • We teach that religion is something to be used every day, not just on Sundays. • We teach that Reli-gious Science is a religion that can be used at home, at school and at play; that since God is within us, heaven is also within us, that is we learn to live our lives in harmony with God’s Law, we live in heaven now. • We teach that keeping the mind focused on good causes a richer experience of life. •We teach that God is truth and beauty, peace and harmony; that as we grow to be more like God, our lives will be filled with health, happiness and success. • We teach that nothing is too wonderful to happen, nothing is too good to be true: everything is possible to God through me and you! —adapted from a work by Dorothy Quigley

Support for Roatan, Honduras This project has now grown into a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization called Roatán Support Effort, to allow even more ways of giving, and now with a tax-deductible status. This initiative helps by transporting essential supplies to the clinics, youth soccer league, animal shelter, community outreach program, and soup kitchen on the island of Roatán,

Honduras. All donations are used to help the island and all administrative duties are volunteer. Also needed are soccer shoes and uniforms, and children’s and adult shoes, to be placed in the bin by the copy room door. Please email Lynn Rippelmeyer at [email protected], or call her at (281) 799-9866, and visit roatansupporteffort.org.

Our Creative Life practitioners are outstand-ing spiritual support persons, available to lovingly and confidentially assist you. Each has spent hundreds of hours in training, to direct natural compassion into helping you through listening, caring, and using spiritual

mind treatment — affirmative prayer — to reveal the truth of you that is greater than any apparent limitation. Each is licensed by the Centers for Spiritual Living, and engages in ongoing study and spiritual development. Have a new goal, an old problem, or a question about applying our teaching? Work with a practitioner and watch what happens!

Great day in the morning!

We lost count after 110 households and 416 clients received support through us from the Montgomery County Food Bank on August 17th. It was hot, strenuous and joy-filled work for the 24 CLCers who dealt with a last-

minute date change and stepped up to serve our food-insecure neighbors in the Tamina/Oak Ridge area. Huge thanks to our leadership team and everyone who did the heavy lifting and other tasks to carry it off. These events will be held quarterly, the next being

, 23, again at the Oak Ridge High School Ninth Grade Campus, with times TBA, For more on this, contact CLC food initiative coordinator Ruth Catalogna at [email protected].
