Project Overview:

The Chamber is inviting all interested persons from the greater Milford area to design a new logo, style guide and tagline that will serve as the visual identity of the Milford Chamber of Commerce.

Who can enter:

The competition is open to the greater Milford area businesses and individuals and entrants must be in the state of Connecticut.

Competition timeline:

April 10 at 9 am - competition is open to the publicMay 26 at 4:30 pm - competition closesMay 29 - June 2 - the Milford Chamber of Commerce Business Committee reviews entriesJune 2 - the winning entry is selectedJune 5 - the winner is publicly announced through a press release

Winning compensation:

The designer of the winning selected branding items will receive compensation in the form of chamber services, which could include: a free Chamber membership (up to $500), a free ad in the upcoming year’s business and community directory, two free email blasts to promote your company or events and an enhanced listing in our online business directory.

Entries must include:

All entries must include a proposed logo, a proposed style guide and can also include a suggested tagline. The entries must also be initially submitted as a high-resolution pdf via email with the subject line “Milford Logo Competition Entry” to [email protected]. Entrants should provide their complete contact details (name, address, phone number and email) with their submission.

Our primary business goals:

We aim to enhance the local business community, empower our members and influence positive economic growth. We are a member-driven organization and an advocate for the business community at the local and state level.

The ideal members we want to serve:

Business owners and executives who want to expand their business, grow their professional network, better understand how they can contribute to the community and take advantage of learning opportunities for them and their employees. We have small business members with companies up to 5 employees and we have large business members with over 1,000 employees. We also have a diverse membership of a variety of business types ranging from restaurants to manufacturers to marketing to construction and more.

Key benefits we want to communicate to prospective members:

The activities and resources of the Chamber provide effective opportunities to make a difference in their business and in the community. We drive business success, we improve our local communities, we will help enhance reputations and we provide unique leadership experiences.

What the Chamber does for the business community:

The Chamber has a reputation as the go-to source for local businesses to grow their businesses and business leads, as well as a place to help the community. We host a number of events that benefit the town as well as events that raise scholarship money for students in the area. We advocate to legislators on behalf of businesses too.

Types of members we want to attract are:

Organizations and companies that benefit from business relationships, want to give back to their communities, want to be more involved in their communities, learn more about business practices and have their interests represented politically.

Unique aspects of our Chamber of Commerce and value we provide:

Focus on building community as providing services to improve businesses. Community connections. With a smaller member base, we are a lot more involved with our businesses and their success and our smaller staff dedicates more hours to our Chamber members.

Specifics we are looking for:- New logo- New tagline- Color and font style guide with recommendations on headers and body text font

Style preferences:- Clean and fresh- Modern and simple- Not anything old-style looking / historic- Include waves- Must look good on clothing and other promo items

Themes we like:- Seaside community- Beach- Downtown- Connecting- Resources

Possible elements to include:- Sea birds: heron- Circle element- Sea: waves, boating, sailboat, docks, coastline
