The ChallengeVolvo Logistics required a logistics solution that would allow it to consolidate loads from over 300 suppliers in the UK for dis-tribution across Europe. The solution would need to be reliable and cost effective as well as offering good supply chain visibility in order to manage a complex ‘just-in-time’ operation, where goods arrive just as they are needed to avoid extra storage costs, but not late and therefore causing a delay in production.

The SolutionDSV Road Limited transports a range of original equipment (components) for trucks and cars from more than 300 Volvo suppliers across the UK and consolidates them at its Tamworth facility for cross-docking and onward distribution. From Tamworth, DSV Road Limited provides line-haul transportation for Volvo to Poland, Sweden, Belgium and France.
