Creating Halloween Window Silhouettes with Oracal 631 Black Vinyl Use Oracal 631 Indoor vinyl to create haunting silhouettes in your windows for Halloween! 631 has a

removable adhesive and is easier to remove after the Holiday season. This tutorial shows you some easy steps to follow using a Silhouette Cameo cutter to produce these decorations.

1. Measure the size of each window you want each design on.

2. Open each image

3. Create cut lines.

4. Scale each design to the appropriate size.

5. Use the Knife Tool to cut the graphic into 12” max width sections, making sure to cut as a Solid not an Outline. Depending on the size of the silhouette, you may have more than 2 sections.

6. If your image sections are ready, cut the design in a mirror image and continue with Steps 7 & 8. If you want to combine this with another image (as with the tree and moon), go to Step 9.

7. Weed the excess material around your design.

8. Use Transfer Tape to lift the design off the backing and carefully apply to the inside of your window. Align each section to create your full design on your window, overlapping your seams slightly to avoid any spaces in the black silhouette.

To combine two images together, such as the tree and moon shown in the window of the house, continue with the next steps:

9. For the Tree & Moon, create a circle and position it behind the right portion of the tree (with the tree being cut in half vertically to fit in the 12” cutting width). Make a duplicate of the right half of the tree.

10. Select the duplicate and do an offset (roughly 0.125inch).

11. Keep the offset tree and delete the duplicate.

12. Align the offset over the moon circle. Select the offset, Shift + select the circle, and Subtract All. This will crop the branches out of the moon. Delete the tree offset and align the moon over the original tree cut. This process creates a separation between the two images to make both visible in the window.

13. Here is your finished tree.

14. Cut each 12” section in mirror image. 15. Weed the excess material around your design. 16. Use Transfer Tape to lift the design off the backing and carefully apply to the inside of your

window. Align each section to create your full design on your window.

**The instructions above refer to the Silhouette Studio software, but the same type of method can be used with other cutters & software.

**Be sure to clean and dry the windows before applying your vinyl, but do NOT use any cleaner containing ammonia.
