Creating a Leadership Vision

Presenter: Sue [email protected] 10, 2015

1HOW WILL THE WORLD/WORKPLACE LOOK DIFFERENT AS A RESULT OF YOUR PARTICIPATION IN EMERGING LEADERS?

2THE IMPORTANCE OF VISIONI am personally convinced that one person can be a change catalyst, a transformer in any situation, any organization. Such an individual is yeast that can leaven an entire loaf. It requires vision, initiative, patience, respect, persistence, courage, and faith to be a transforming leader.- Steven R. Covey3THE IMPORTANCE OF VISIONKey Components:Content: the information presented affects the employees or teams perception of the organization.

Communication: the articulation of a vision, how the information is communicated, affects the employees or teams perception of ones leadership effectiveness.4

The Foresight Process DEVELOPING A VISION5STEP 1: UNDERSTAND THE PAST

6STEP 2: ANALYZE THE PRESENT

7STEP 3: CREATE THE FUTUREUnderstanding the past leans toward the symbolic, analyzing the present leans toward the factual, creating the future leans toward the emotional. There are many creative processes that help leaders envision these worthy futures. The most important rule to follow during this phase is simple to articulate but difficult to practice: conceptsmith first, and wordsmith second.
