Create a Personalized Degree Plan
If you are a business student interested in creating a Degree Plan to organize your
remaining course requirements in sequence on Post-it notes and you are
interested in investing 45-60 minutes on this project, follow this presentation.
Supplies needed:
Degree Plan and Post-its, available for business majors in Grawn 113
Degree Map of your intended major
Pencil
Scissors
Review a Degree Map for your major:
Cross out all completed courses directly on your Degree Map
Refer to Degree Progress and your academic history online to confirm
See example on next slide
Prepare your post-its:
Cut Post-its in half so you have 1 for every remaining course
Using a pencil, write in the 3 letters and 3 numbers for each course
Organize by color if desired:
You may want to choose 1 color for UPs, 1 color for your BS in BA Degree requirements, and another color for your major. See example on the next slide.
Confirm your Degree Plan with Advisor:
Once you have each remaining course written on a Post-it note and placed into your Degree Plan, you are ready to schedule an appointment with your business advisor.
Call for an appointment time:
Call 989-774-3124 and indicate you created a Degree Plan and need to review it with a business advisor.
If you are still deciding when to study abroad, be sure to mention that so you are scheduled with an advisor who will discuss study abroad options with you.
During your appointment:
Bring your Degree Plan and remaining Post-it notes to your appointment.
Be sure to discuss any plans you have for summer classes, any interest you have in adding a minor, and any other questions.
After your appointment:
Keep your Degree Plan in a safe place.
Take a photo of it for easy reference.
Review your plan often and check to make sure none of your Post-its have fallen off.
Confirm remaining graduation requirements:
During the semester after completion of the Integrated Core courses (FIN 302, MGT 303, MKT 304), call 989-774-3124 to schedule an appointment to confirm your remaining requirements and review the process to apply for graduation.
