On Thursday February 21st, produc-ers came from all directions toattend the 9th annual Cramer Expo.

The sponsored lanes were crowded withattendees from Alberta, Montana, and Man-itoba and of course majority fromSaskatchewan.

Kelly Turcotte, event coordinator stated,“we sold over 500 lunch tickets, plus manygo off site to eat.” She smiled when askedabout the turn out for the one-day sold outtrade show.

Exhibitors were pleased with the traffic attheir booths, from Pharmaceuticals, to

Genetics, to Feed Compa-nies, Equipment and every-thing in between.

While attendees exploredthe aisles and chatted tomultiple onsite companiesand their representatives, thehighlight of the day comes at the end of theshow with the Cramer Cup series. Winnersare announced in various categories, Piebaking, cereal and grains, eggs and ofcourse the biggest draw is the Carcass com-petition. Trophies are handed out and liveauction takes place but the biggest

winner by far are thecharities that reap therewards, both the cashdonations which exceed-ed $30, 000 this year butthe over 2600 kg of pork– that’s almost 6000 lbs.of pork.

As Doug Cramer ofCramer Ag Expo andEvent Management Inc.,mentions giving back tothose in need and in the

community hits home after a personaltragedy in their own lives years ago, sincethen both Doug and Kelly have found a waywith the help of the Hutterite Brethren ofSaskatchewan to give back.

These are the 18 who participated; Baildon Colony, CypressColony, and Downie Lake Colony, Earview Colony, Grassy HillColony, Kyle Colony, Main Centre Colony, Matador Colony,McMahon Colony, Pontiex Colony, Smiley Colony, SovereignColony, Spring Lake Colony, Springfield Colony, TompkinsColony, Valley Centre Colony, Vanguard Colony and WymarkColony.

Judging these 29 carcasses fell to Jason Care from Manitoba PorkCouncil hog grading program, he shared that judging these carcass-es was impressive, out of a possible 111 points the top five scored87 points or higher, with first place scoring 97 out of 111.

The top five were: 5th Tompkins Colony, 4th Baildon Colony, 3rdWymark Colony, 2nd Smiley Colony and in 1st place EarviewColony.

Handling the auctioneering duties this year was Tyler Smyth fromPattison Agriculture. Roger Kostron from Masterfeeds helped callbids from the floor, together they had both hands and bids flying.Roberta Essex owner of Superior Meats donated the processing ofthe animals once again. Recipients of the nearly 3000 kgs of meatwere The Salvation Army Regina and The Souls Harbor Mission.Special thanks to Paul Jr and Miriam Hofer from the Webb Colonyfor delivering it the pork to us, greatly appreciated, stated Joe Millerof Souls Harbor Mission.
