    Remove battery pack from worklight before replac-ing bulb or performing any routine maintenance orcleaning.

    Do not disassemble your worklight. Do notplace worklight or battery pack near fire or

    heat. They may explode, Also, do not disposeof awornout batterypack by incinerating.Do not inciner-ate the battery, even ifit isseverely damaged or com-pletely worn out. The battery may explode in fire.

    Do notstore your worklight ina damp or wetlocation. Do not store in locations where thetemperature isless than 50F or more than 100F.Do not store in outside sheds or in vehicles.

    Do not permit children to use worklight unsuper-vised. It is not a toy. The temperatureof the bulb willbecome hot after being on for only a short period oftime. This hot temperature can cause burn injury iftouched and can create sufficient heat to melt somefabrics.

    If wrapped or in contact with fabrics, the worklightlens can produce sufficient heat to melt somefabrics. To avoid serious personal injury, never allowthe worklight lensto come in contact with anything.

    Keep work area clean. Cluttered areas and benchesinvite accidents.

    Avoid dangerous environments.

    Keep light dry, clean, and free from oil and grease.Always use a clean cloth when cleaning. Never usebrake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-based products orany strong solvent to clean your worklight.

    Stay alert. Watch what you are doing and usecommon sense. Do not rush.

    Check damaged parts. Before further use of thisworklight, a part that is damaged should be carefullychecked to determine that it will operate properly andperform its intended function. Do not use worklight if itdoes not function properly.

    Don't expose worklight to rain. Water entering apower tool will increasethe risk of electric shock ormalfunction.

    Stay alert, watch what youare doing and usecommon sense when operating a worklight. Do notuse tool while tired or under the influence of drugs,alcohol, or medication. A moment of inattentionwhileoperating power tools may result in serious personalinjury.

    Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balanceat all times. Proper footing and balance enable bettercontrol of the tool inunexpected situations. Do not useon a ladder or unstable support.

    WORKLIGHT USE AND CARE

    Check for alignment of moving parts, binding ofmoving parts, mounting, and any other conditionsthat may affect its operation. A part that isdam-aged should be properly repaired or replaced byan authorized service center. Following this rule willreduce the risk of shock, fire, or serious injury.

    Store worklight out of the reach of children andother untrained persons. Tools are dangerous in thehands of untrained users,

    Lens and bulb become hot during use:

    During or immediately after use, don't layworklightflat on lens surface or place lens area in contactwith a plastic or fabric covered surface.

    Handle worklight with care around any flammablesurface.

    Let worklight cool for several minutes after usebefore changing bulb.

    Do not use or permit use of worklight in bed orsleeping bags. This worklight lens can melt fabricand a burn injury could result.

    SAFETY RULES FOR BATTERY WORKLIGHTS

    Use only the charger recommended for use withyour worklight. Do not substitute any other charger.Use of anotherchargercould cause batteries to ex-plode causing possible serious injury.

    II Your battery tool should be charged ina locationwhere the temperature is more than 50F but lessthan 100F.

    Under extreme usage or temperature conditions,battery leakage may occur. If liquid comes in contactwith your skin,wash immediatelywith soap andwater,then neutralize with lemon juice or vinegar. If liquid getsin your eyes, flush them with clean water for at least 10minutes, then seek immediate medical attention.

    Battedes vent hydrogen gas and can explode inthe presence of a source of ignition, such asa pilotlight. To reduce the risk of serious personal iniury,never use any cordless product in the presence ofopen flame. An exploded battery can propel debris andchemicals. If exposed, flush with water immediately.

    Never use a battery pack that has been damagedor received a sharp blow. A damaged batterypack issubjectto explosion.Properlydisposeof a damagedbattery pack immediately. Failure to heed this warningcan result in serious personal injury.

    Before using battery charger, read all instructionsand cautionary markings in this manua[, on batterycharger, battery, and product using battery to preventmisuse of the products and possible injury or damage.

    CAUTION: To reduce the risk of electric shock

    ordamage to the charger and battery, charge onlynickel-cadmium rechargeable batteries as specifi-cally designated on your charger. Other types ofbatteries may burst, causing personal injury ordamage.

    Do notuse charger outdoors or expose to wet ordamp conditions. Water entering charger will increasethe riskof electric shock.

    Use of an attachment not recommended or sold

    bythe battery charger manufacturer may result ina riskof fire, electric shock, or injuryto persons.Followingthisrulewill reduce the riskof electric shock,fire, or serious personal injury.

    Do not abuse cord or charger. Never use the cordtocarrythe charger.Do not pull thechargercord ratherthan the plugwhendisconnecting from receptacle.Damage to thecord or charger could occur and createan electricshock hazard. Replace damaged cords im-mediately.

    LED FUNCTIONS OF CHARGER

    Red LED on = Fast charging mode. Green LEDon = Fully charged and in maintenance

    charge mode. Green LED on =When battery pack is inserted into

    charger, indicates hot battery pack or that battery packis out of normal temperature range.

    Yellow and Green LEDs on = Deeply discharged ordefective battery pack.

    No LED on = Defective charger or battery pack.

    CHARGING THE BATTERY PACK

    The battery pack for this worklight has beenshipped in alow charge condition to prevent possible problems. There-fore, you should charge it until the green LEDon the frontof the charger comes on.NOTE: Batteries will not reach full charge the first timethey are charged. Allow several cycles (operation followedby recharging) for them to become fully charged.

    CHARGING A COOL BATTERY PACK

    If battery pack is below normal temperature range, thegreen LED on charger will come on. Allow battery pack toreach normal temperature, then the red LEDwill come on.

    NOTE: Ifthe charger does not charge the battery packunder normal circumstances, return both the battery packand charger to your nearest Sears Repair Center forelectrical check.

    Charge the battery pack only with the charger provided. Make sure the power supply is normal household

    voltage, 120 volts, 60 Hz, AConly, Connect the charger to the power supply.

    Place the battery pack in the charger aligning raised ribon the battery pack with the groove in the charger. SeFigure 2.

    Press down on the battery pack to be sure contacts onthe battery pack engage properly with contacts in thecharger.

    Normally the red LEDon charger will come on. Thisindicates the charger is in fast charging mode.

    Red LEDshould remain on for approximately t hourthen the green LEDwill come on. Green LED onindicates battery pack is fully charged and charger isin maintenance charge mode.NOTE: The green LEDwill remain on until the batterypack is removed from the charger or charger isdisconnected from the power supply.

    If both yellow and green LEDscome on, this indicatesa deeply discharged or defective battery pack. Allowthe battery pack to remain in the charger for 15 to 30minutes. When the battery pack reaches normalvoltage range,the red LED should come on. Ifthe redLED does not come onafter 30 minutes, this mayindicate a defective battery pack and should bereplaced.

    After normal usage, a minimum of 1 hour of chargingtime is required to fully recharge battery pack.

    The battery pack will become slightly warm to thetouch while charging. This is normal and does notindicate a problem.

    Do not place the charger and battery pack in an areaof extreme heat or cold. They will work best at normalroom temperature.NOTE: The charger and battery pack should be placedin a location where the temperature is more than 5OFbut lessthan 100F.

    When batteries become fully charged, unplug thecharger from power supply and remove the batterypack.

    CHARGING A HOT BATTERY PACK

    When using the worklight continuously, the batteries in theattery pack will become hot. You should let a hot bat-ery pack cool down for approximately 30minutes beforettempting to recharge. When the battery pack becomesischarged and is hot, this will cause the green LED toome on instead of the red LED.After 30 minutes, reinserthe battery pack in the charger. Ifthe green LED continues

    o remain on, return battery pack to your nearest SearsRepair Center for checking or replacing.

    NOTE: This situation only occurs when continuous usef the workflght causes the batteries to become hot. Itoes not occur under normal circumstances. Refer toCHARGING A COOL BATTERY PACK" for normalecharging of batteries. Ifthe charger does not chargeour battery pack under normal circumstances, returnoth the battery pack and charger to your nearest SearsRepairCenter for electrical check.

    TO INSTALL:Place the battery pack in your worklight, aligning raisedrib on battery packwith groove in worklight's batteryport.

    Make sure the latches on each side of the battery packsnap into place and battery pack is secured to work-light before beginning operation.

    TO REMOVE:

    Locate latches on side of battery pack and depressboth sides to release battery pack from yourworklight.

    Remove battery pack from your worklight.

    CAUTION: When placing battery pack inthe tool,be sure raised rib on battery pack aligns with thebottom of the drill and latches into place properly.Improper installation of the battery pack can causedamage to internal components.

    When purchasingreplacement fluorescent tube, requesteplacement part number 7819602.

    O REPLACE FLUORESCENT TUBE:

    Removethe battery pack fromthe worklight.Removethe screwto release the lens cover. Removethe lens cover by pulling the cover forward and liftingitfrom the housing.

    To remove the old fluorescent tube from the spring,gently grasp the lower edge of the rubber cushionand the sides of the bulb. Carefully work the tube in a

    side-to-side motion while easing the tube forward andup until the tube is free from the spring. Do not pullthe fluorescent tube straight out from its center, as thisincreases the chance of breakage. Removethe rubbercushion from the old fluorescent tube and place it ontop of the new tube, rounded edge facing outward.

    Insert the new fluorescent tube into the spring byaligning the prongs onthe tube with the holes in thetube socket area. Gently push down onthe base of thenew tube until fully engaged. Do not force the tube intoplace.

    Replace the lens cover by sliding the lower edgeinto the housing. Align the screw holes at top. Witha screwdriver, tighten the screw. Do not use a drill totighten the screw, as the drill's torque may be strongenough to damage the lens cover.

    Replace the battery pack.

    BATTERIES

    The battery pack for this worklight is equipped withnickel-cadmium rechargeable batteries. Length of servicefrom each charging will depend on the type of work youare doing.

    The batteries in this worklight have been designed to pro-vide maximum trouble-free life. However, like all batteries,

    they will eventually wear out. Do net disassemble batterypack and attempt to replace the batteries. Handling ofthese batteries, especially when wearing rings and jewelry,could result in a serious burn.

    To obtain the longest possible battery life,we suggest thefollowing:

    Remove the battery pack from the charger once it isfully charged and ready for use.

    For battery storage longer than 30 days:

    Store the battery pack where the temperature is below80F.

    Store battery packs ina "discharged" condition.

    BATTERY PACK REMOVAL ANDPREPARATION FOR RECYCLING

    To preserve natural resources, pleaserecycle or dispose of batteriesproperly.

    This product contains nickel-cadmiumbatteries. Local, state or federallaws may prohibit disposal of nickel-cadmium batteries in ordinary trash.

    Consult your local waste authority for informationregarding available recycling and/or disposal options.

    ,_, WARNING: Upon removal, cover the battery pack'sterminals with heavy-duty adhesive tape. Do notattempt to destroy or disassemble battery pack orremove any of its components. Nickel-cadmiumbatteries must be recycled or disposed of properly.Also, never touch both terminals with metal objectsand/or body parts as short circuit may result. Keepaway from children.
