SETTING NEW STANDARDS
Who We Are
Back in the early days our start came from taking on the projects that no
one else wanted to do as they were too difficult, hazardous or tedious. Our
first major project was a shutdown at NZRC (New Zealand Refining
Company) in 1990, which at the time was one of the largest catalyst
projects undertaken globally.
Following on from this success we knocked on the doors of heavy industry
and asked them to show us the jobs that no-one else wanted to do… the
projects the other guys had walked away from because they were too hard,
“Let us have a look” we said.
We figured out how to do these jobs better, faster and safer than our
competitors, often requiring us to develop specific methods and
equipment that was not available at the time.
Since our start in 1989 Contract Resources has continued to set New
Standards in the provision of specialized industrial services to oil
refineries, petrochemical plants, and large industrial plants where the
company's innovation, technical expertise, and high standards of health
and safety are critical in meeting client requirements.
During our years of operation we have developed many technical alliances
and relationships with specialist companies, offering the most up-do-date
technical services and know how in our field. CR is proud to be associated
with these industry leaders and is continually working to bring global best
practice to our clients.
“Our organization is now globally established with permanent operations
in Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, USA and South America, with
over 20 strategically located operational bases. Our field service and
engineering personnel offer a great depth of knowledge and experience
providing efficient solutions to some of the toughest industrial services
challenges.
In the Middle East, CR established operations in 2010 and have quickly
grown to become one of the leading industrial service companies in the
Region. From our main operations office in Abu Dhabi (UAE), and fully
established operational bases in Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia (JV) we are
ready to serve the industry across the region. In addition we operate
through a network of partners in Kuwait, Egypt, India and Bahrain.
Mission & Values
Our Mission
“Setting New standards in Specialized Industrial Services.”
Our Values
Zero Harm - Care for Health, Safety and Environment of all stakeholders
Customers - Central to our activities and the reason we exist.
Teamwork - Performance and employee satisfaction through teamwork.
Delivery - Meet or Exceed Expectations.
Quality - 100% right first time - every time.
What We DoAt CR we excel at providing specialized services that are essential to the efficient operation of heavy process-oriented industries.
Specialized equipment, personnel and know-how are central to our services which are performed within the framework of Safety, Quality, Schedule and Client focus.
Project specific Method Statements including JSA’s (Job Safety Analysis) and Operational Procedures are prepared for each activity and implemented during the work. Post job lessons learned studies are carried out to ensure improvement to schedule, cost and safety.
Catalyst Handling
CR offers a complete range of services for pre-commissioning and maintaining catalytic reactors, vessels and columns from the initial loading of newly built units, to term contracts for Shutdown Maintenance. Services include unloading and loading of catalyst under fresh air or inert conditions on both fixed bed and tubular reactors, as well as specialized internal mechanical works.
Catalyst logistics including transportation, pre-bagging, screening and separation provide a complete solution for catalyst replacement activities, along with media replacement such as carbon, sand, clay, desiccant, molsieve, resin and salt, as well as tower packing being easily handled by our site teams.
Chemical Cleaning
CR’s chemical cleaning division employs highly-trained & skilled technicians to provide innovative, safe and cost effective cleaning to process plant vessels and systems. Acid and alkaline treatments provide an effective alternative to mechanical cleaning resulting in the removal of persistent scale and other deposits in difficult to reach plant locations.
Chemical cleaning solutions are tailored to the specific requirement of the project providing high cleaning results and leaving no surface contamination, while carefully selected inhibitors and continuous monitoring in our mobile laboratory ensures preservation of the base material.
Decontamination
Plant Decontamination is achieved by the application of specifically developed chemistries for removal of H2S, Pyrophoric Iron, Benzene and LEL’s from process plant systems. Decontamination chemistries are can be applied in both Liquid and/or Vapour phase with procedures specifically developed for each job based on the particulars of the system and requirements of the client.
Plant decontamination saves significant time during the shutting down of process units, which greatly reduces the hazards associated with unwanted substances (H2s, Pyrophoric Iron, Benzene and LEL’s) found within these systems. This results in the overall reduction of the shutdown duration and provides a safe and hazard free environment for maintance work to commence.

What We Do
DDT – Furnace De-coking
DDT - Decoking and Descaling Technology are the global market leaders in the removal of coke from fired heaters using stud pigs. Internal coke buildup within furnace tubes (as a result of the hydrocarbon cracking process), increases both the DP across the unit and the energy required to achieve the same production output.
Internal coke deposits are quickly and completely removed by passing a series of patented stud pigs (scrapers) through the furnace tubes using water pressure from the DDT pumping unit as the driving force. Removed coke is carried out of the furnace along with the water, which is setup as a closed loop to greatly reduce the volume used.
High Pressure Water Blasting
The use of Automated High Pressure Jetting equipment is the global standard for Safety and Efficiency for industrial cleaning in the Oil & Gas industry, cleanning up to 10 x faster than manual jetting work. Over and above the time saving there is a dramatic increase in the safety of Jetting Operations by keeping the operator out of the line of fire.
CR deploys a fleet of High Pressure Pumps (from 10k – 40k psi) at various flow rates in conjunction with state-of-the-art automated cleaning equipment during plant Shutdowns to efficiently clean large numbers of heat exchanger bundles. Towers, vessels, columns and pipework systems can all be successfully cleaned using CR’s automated cleaning equipment.
Tank Cleaning and Sludge Management
Sludge buildup is part of the normal operating life cycle of hydrocarbon storage tanks, with the removal, handling and separation thereof provided by CR. Tanks are prepared using automated circulation equipment allowing for sludge removal which is usually achieved without manual tank entry. A range of equipment options including high-powered vacuum units, hazardous-area rated pumps, hydrodozers and remotely controlled accessories are utilized. Once removed, hydrocarbon sludge is further processed to separate the water, oil (which can be re-processed) and solids which are collected for disposal.
