1 User instructionsEnglish
Valve terminal type CPV..-GE-ASI-4E4A-... has been designed exclusively for controlling pneumatic actuators andis only suitable for use in bus systems in accordance withthe AS-Interface specifications. If additional commercially-available components such as sensors and actuators areconnected, the specifiedlimits for pressures, temperatures, electrical data, torques, etc. must not be exceeded.
AS-Interface bus systems and valve terminals may only beinstalled by personnel especially trained for this purpose.Detailed information on the design and addressing of yourbus system can be found in the manual for your AS-Interface master.
Information on the pneumatic components of the valve terminal can be found in the Pneumatics manual P.BE-CPV-... .
Warning Switch off the power supply before connecting or
disconnecting plugs (otherwise this could lead tofunctional damage).
Connect the earth connection on the left end platewith low impedance (short cable with large cross-sectional area) to the earth potential.
Commission only a valve terminal which has beenfitted and wired completely.

3 Installation instructions
3.1 Assigning the AS-Interface address
Please noteThe AS-Interface address of the valve terminal typeCPV..-GE-ASI-4E4A-... is stored electronically (no battery) after every modification and can be modified atleast 10 times. After that the valve terminal maintainsthe last set AS-Interface address.
We recommend that you use the Festo addresser type ASI-PRG-ADR with adapter cable type KASI-ADR.
Before connecting to the AS-Interface bus: assign an unused address to each slave. Set the desired address withthe AS-Interface addresser. The permitted address range is1 ... 31.The factory setting of the terminal is address 0. It is notnecessary to parametrize the AS-Interface slaves.

3.3 Connecting sensors (PNP inputs)
For connecting sensors use cable type KM8-M8-GSGD-...and plugs with union nut, M8x1 thread.
Fasten the plugs with the aid of the union nut in order toprevent unintentional loosening, e.g. due to shock. Sealunused sensor connections with the protective caps typeISK-M8. Only in this way can you comply with protectionclass IP65.
Please note‒ The inputs have been based on the IEC1131-2 type
02.‒ The inputs are protected against short circuits. If a
short circuit occurs, the slave will be switched off.The AS-Interface master regards this slave as missing. When the short circuit has been eliminated, theslave responds immediately as being operative.

3.4 Connecting the AS-interface bus and the load voltage
Please noteThe sensor power supply for the inputs is provided viathe AS-interface bus. Voltage suppply of the outputsvia the AS-Interface bus is only possible with typeCPV...-GE-ASI-4E4A.Type CPV...-...-Z must always besupplied with 24 V via the load voltage connection. The AS-Interface has an integrated watchdog functionwhich resets the outputs if there is a bus communication failure.
WarningUse power supplies which guarantee reliable electricalisolation of the operating voltage as per IEC/DIN EN60204-1. Consider also the general requirements forPELV circuits in accordance with IEC/DIN EN 60204-1.
By the use of PELV circuits, protection against electricshock (protection against direct and indirect contact) isguaranteed in accordance with IEC/EN 60204-1 (Electrical equipment for machines, General requirements).
Festo CPV..-GE-ASI-4E4A-... 2017-11e English10
Please note with branch lines:
– the total maximum length of the AS-Interface bus: 100 m (without repeater/extender).
– the cable length of the load voltage connection (depends on the ccurrent consumption of the valveterminal and the fluctuations in the load voltage).
– seal unused cable ends with the Festo cable cap ASI-KK-FK or the cable sleeve ASI-KT-FK. In this way youwill avoid leakage currents and comply with protectionclass IP65.

Proceed as follows:
1. Press the AS-Interface cable into the upper part of thecable socket.
2. Make sure that the AS-Interface cable is free of tension.
3. Place the cable socket in position and screw it tight(max. 0.3 Nm).

3.6 Converting the valve terminal
The CPV valve terminal can be fitted with double-solenoidand/or single-solenoid valves. During conversion, the newvalve terminal configuration must be set on the DIPswitches on the bottom of the electric sub-base.
1 DIP switch on thebottom of the sub-base 1
Instructions on removign the electric sub-base can befound in the Pneumatics Manual. The permitted valve combinations as well as the relevant DIP switch settings can befound in the table in section 3.2.
