Indications for CPEX
• Evaluation for exertional dyspnea
• Development of an exercise prescription
• Direct measurement of peak O2 consumption per unit time
• Risk stratification and prognosis in heart failure
• Assess the results of medical and surgical therapies
Indications
• Evaluation of exercise intolerance and unexplained dyspnea
• Functional impairment• Exercise limitation --
determination of factors and pathophysiologic mechanisms
• Assessing contribution of cardiac and pulmonary causes in coexisting disease
• Symptoms disproportionate to resting pulmonary and cardiac tests
