• The Abomasum is the only “true” gastric stomach out of the four stomachs

that cows possess.

•A displaced abomasum is caused by a diet with an overload of

concentrate feeds, such as grains, and low roughage.

•The stomach fills up with gas and fluid, causing it to increase in size and

shift position.

•This condition can cause blockages of the abomasum, decreased

appetite, reduced milk production and, in some cases, fatal twisting of the

abomasum.

• The faster human muscle cells have to contract, the less

force they are able to exert.

•Morphologically, cows are built low to the ground, giving

them a low center of gravity. This is what determines the

angle at which the force of 2910 Newtons is applied.

• An average six foot man can generate up to 656 Newtons

of force on a horizontal push.

So,

2910 N ÷ 656N/person = 4.43 people

•According to the above calculations, it would take a

minimum of approximately 4.5 people to apply the amount of force needed to tip a cow.

• Contrary to popular belief, cows do not sleep standing up!

• They “doze” standing up, but sleep laying down. This is due to the fact that their knees do not lock like horses‟ do.

• Cows are „prey‟ animals. Out of the responses of fight or flight, cows will chose flight. They will instinctively run away from anything approaching it (especially drunken teenagers!).

Cow tipping is theoretically possible

according to the laws of physics.

However, the natural behavior and

instinct of cows will not let any human

get close enough to perform the act.

The final verdict: Cow tipping is only a
