Workforce training programs such as readySC™ partner with our technical colleges to ensure our workforce has the skills required by advanced manufacturing companies.

LOW COST UTILITIES: Thanks to a diverse supply of resources, industrial power costs are generally 15-20 percent lower than the national average.

MCNAIR AEROSPACE CENTER: The University of South Carolina’s newly created Aerospace Center is advancing innovation in education and workforce development by offering the state’s first master’s degree in aerospace engi-neering as well as a master’s degree in engineering management. Two additional degrees, a bachelor’s and a master’s in systems design, are in progress.

LOCATION & TRANSPORTATION: Our region is located halfway between New York City and Miami, within 24-hour ground access to two-thirds of the national population, and just an hour from the nation’s 8th largest port—the Port of Charleston. Our region is also home to the UPS Regional Air Hub, the Columbia Metro-politan Airport and four major interstates (I-20, I-26, I-77, and I-95) for easy north/south and east/west access.

AVAILABLE PROPERTY: Central SC has more than 60 available industrial buildings between 10,000-350,000 square feet. There are nearly 100 industrial sites with available acreage, and new building construction costs are just $40-$60 per square foot.
