    Exova Catalyst were commissioned by Lafarge Ireland Ltd to carry out stack emissions testing on the A8 - Kiln Exhaust Main Stack (Duty Analyser) Stack at Cookstown Works.

    There were no special requirements.

    The aim of the monitoring campaign was to perform an AST Calibration Check Exercise on the Continuous Emissions Monitor (CEM), which is installed on the Plant, following the requirements of EN 14181.

    The calibration functions, once applied, only remain valid as long as the QAL3 data remains within control limits, and that there are no manual adjustments made to the CEMs other than those allowed to bring the settings back within the QAL3 control limit.

    The CEM data was corrected using the calibration function derived during the most recent QAL2 campaign. The corrected values passed both the variability and calibration tests as required by EN 14181 and therefore the calibration function is deemed to be valid within the given tolerances. The calibration range derived in the previous QAL2 is still valid.

    The sampling location meets all the requirements specified in EA Guidance Note M1 and EN 15259, and therefore there are no improvement recommendations.

    According to EN 15259, a Homogeneity Test is required on this stack, however, as far as we are aware, it has not yet been undertaken. Unless agreed otherwise with the respective regulator, we would recommend that the Homogeneity Test be undertaken prior to the next set of emissions testing on this stack, and would be happy to carry out the work.
