May 20th, 2015 To Whom It May Concern, Graphic Designer (Web) KCTS 9 Seattle, WA I am an artist with the skill and expertise of a craftsman. I was born and raised in the Pacific NW which means I’m a little rough around the edges, but I clean up well and I know how to apply elbow grease. I have experience working on projects meant for print, apparel, web, and display from concept to construction. I have many freelance projects under my belt but I’m growing tired of the solitude. I am competitive which is what fuels my creativity. However, I am incredibly bored with the daily lack of competition that freelance work provides. I dream of working with a small group of designers who push one another to greatness, or at least know my name and how to have fun at work. I am willing to bet KCTS 9 can be an incredibly fun place to work. I’m sure it’s not all fun and games, at times I’m sure it can be a grind. All and all though, I think you’d say to me it’s a great place to work, and you have a blast most days. Well, I for one would love to find out! Please have a look at my various compilations of work both attached and online. Feel free to contact me anytime with questions or to schedule an interview. Now here’s all the traditional boring stuff... ...My formal design training began in college where I developed a strong foundation anchored in traditional processes and techniques. However, through a rather unusual employment path I’ve learned that I posses a unique and highly marketable skill set. While perfectly comfortable holding a paintbrush; I am equally confident holding a stylus, soldering iron, saw, or stick welder. As a designer this allows me to quickly troubleshoot and realize working solutions in total confidence throughout the design process. I am accusto- med to a heavy work load in a fast paced environment and I strive for innovative, simple solutions that make a significant difference in all phases of design and production. My years of experience speaking with clients, vendors, architects and manufacturers have given me excellent visual and verbal communication skills, superior attention to detail, and a deep toolbox of knowledge and know-how. Through these experiences I have learned a few things about myself. I work best with a hands-on approach. I have much to learn, but I learn most effectively through guided exploration, and critique. I have held posi- tions of ownership and management but I prefer to prove myself. I enjoy working on a team, but can also manage individual responsibilities. What excites me most is getting my hands dirty exploring new media and tinkering outside the box for inspiration. I am most inspired by trailblazing artists, designers, entrepreneurs, and inventors who've evolved with the innovations of our time in order to advance the human experience. I look forward to speaking with you. Sincerely, kacycouture.com | Silicon Couture | Kacy Howerton © 2015.
