On behalf of the Government of Saskatchewan, it is my pleasure to congratulate all Saskatchewan athletes who are participating in the 2009 Canada Summer Games in Prince Edward Island.

Since 1967, the Canada Games have evolved into the pinnacle of national competition for Canadian athletes. These games also include divisions for persons with disabilities and an arts component called the National Artist Program.

The 2009 edition brings together athletes, from all provinces and territories competing in 18 different sports for two exciting athletic weeks. You are among 4,400 participants, 6,000 volunteers, 10,000 visitors from ‘off-Island’, and over 300 media.

Be sure to take advantage of the warm hospitality and enhanced facilities that this experience is certain to provide. A special thank you to all the event coaches, staff, parents, and volunteers who have made this ultimate inter-provincial and territorial sporting competition possible.

Again, best of luck to our Saskatchewan athletes.

Canada Games Logo

Canada Games LogoThe new corporate logo design was created with a multi-purpose application in mind. The main colours involved are red, gold and black. The dynamic nature of the maple leaf has a fl ame-like quality to it and denotes action and energy. The gold ring encircling the maple leaf is symbolic of the provinces and territories coming together for the Games. The ring is also a sign of continuity, stability, and strength and the colour gold is representative of the quest for excellence.

The typeface chosen for the word mark is both elegant and strong. Its clean edges and classic styling allows for legibility as well as effective reproduction and has a classical quality that will endure the test of time.

The leaf in the ring should be strong enough to stand on its own and over time become recognized and associated with the Canada Games.

Team Sask Logo

Team Sask LogoAfter almost two years of creative planning and intense deliberation The Saskatchewan Games Council is proud to fi nally present three new logos. These logos represent the devel-opment, athleticism and achievement of the Council and its two products the Saskatchewan Games and Team Sask. With the design of the new logos, the Council decided to modify the name Team Saskatchewan to Team Sask.

The Council designed the logos with the desire to brand itself and its products with a unifi ed visual identity. As you can see the Council, Team Sask and the Saskatchewan Games logos’ are connected by a unifying icon. This distinct icon will become visually recognizable and memorable to the public for many years to come.

The unifying icon in the Saskatchewan Games Council, Team Sask and the Saskatchewan Games Logos was created with a multi-purpose application in mind. The icon represents an athlete in motion, reaching toward success. The S portion of the icon works as the letter S in Saskatchewan but it also reminds the viewer of the S in sport.

The Team Sask logo differs slightly from the others as the unifying icon is gold and the words Team Sask are encircled in a green ring. The gold is representative of the Team Sask athlete’s pursuit of excellence in sport. The green ring symbolizes the continuity, stability and strength of Saskatchewan and its athletes.
