National Stress Awareness Month
Stress Awareness Month has been held every April, since 1992.
Stress can have a negative impact on your mind and your body,
which many people may not know.
In honor of stress awareness there will be a few activities going on
here at Covenant Place to help you “Get Unstressed” and release
some tension while learning to manage your stress. We will be hav-
ing a meditation class on April 12th to help release the mental clutter
potentially causing stress. We will be having a massage therapist
come in to do chair massages on April 15th, to release some of the
tension that you may have in your body. These things may help to
release the stress that may be effecting your health. Please come out
to enjoy the activities. See the Social Service Coordinator for sign-
up.
In the meantime here are a few tips to help manage stress in a
healthy way according to the CDC (Center for Disease Control and
Prevention):
Take care of yourself. Eat healthy, well-balanced meals.
Exercise on a regular basis. Get plenty of sleep.
Talk to others. Share your problems and how you are feeling
and coping with a parent, friend, counselor, doctor, or pastor.
Take a break. Give yourself a break if you feel stressed out. If
news events are causing your stress, take a break from listening or
watching the news.

Social Service Coordinator Chat By Tammie Forbes
Hello Covenant Place Residents and Happy Spring,
National Volunteer Week is April 7th—13th. I would like to thank all of
my volunteers for all that they do. Dorothy Muse, Eva Scott, Rose Daye,
Norma Taylor, Lee Jackson, Irene Bourne and Nurse Karen Shippey.
You all help out a great deal here at Covenant Place and I want you to
know that we truly appreciate it. You all do amazing work!
Ms. Angela McKnight, CEO & Founder of Angela Cares, Inc., will be
here on April 18th to discuss and answer any questions that you may
have about Will & Power of Attorney. Will & Power of Attorney is
something which is very important to have in place when allowing
someone that you trust to make decisions on your behalf in the event that
you are not able to. Some of you may stress about who will make deci-
sions on your behalf and this is a way to make sure that your needs and
wants are met.
Thank you to everyone who came out to the 20 year anniversary celebra-
tion of Covenant Place we had a really great time!
I’d also like to thank you all for participating in the survey to rename our
newsletter. The name that received the most votes was Covenant Bulle-
tin. So moving forward this will be the name of our newsletter here at
Covenant Place.
Lastly, I want to thank everyone who came out and participated in the
Snap-Education workshops that we just finished up in March it was a
great success.
March was an eventful month and I pray that you have an even better
April.

Maintenance Memo
Please make sure all garbage is placed inside of a plastic bag and disposed of inside of the garbage
container located in the trash room. Loose garbage attracts rodents and is unacceptable.
Paper is to be recycled. Large amounts of paper (newspaper, copy paper, magazines, etc.) should be
contained with string or in a plastic bag.
Do not place large boxes in the trash rooms. Boxes should be broken down, tied and placed neatly to one side of
the trash room, clear of individuals dumping trash. Improper disposal of boxes can be a safety hazard.

A Message from the Foundation
Nonprofit Status and Mission
What sets United Methodist Communities apart from
many other senior living organizations is our nonprofit
status. The difference between non- profit and for-
profits comes down to goals. For-profits deliver ser-
vices and
but their primary goal is using those profits to benefit
shareholders and executives. Nonprofits focus on mis-
sion. Our mission is compassionately serving in com-
munity so that all are free to choose abundant
life. UMC depends on financial support from generous
partners who believe in our mission. Like many chari-
table organizations, UMC has a foundation that exists
to support and advance UMC’s mission. We do this by
building relationships with residents- like you, associates, businesses, churches, and many others,
and inviting them to support our ministry in meaningful ways. Thank you for your support.
Governed by a board of trustees, Susan Sharp, vice pres-
ident of philanthropy; Pam Senatore, administrative as-
sistant; Rebecca Roe, donor relations coordinator; and
Gary Engelstad, annual giving officer.
Last Month ..
In the Month of March
there was a painting
class with the collabora-
tion of The Girls Scouts
and J Robinson Art. The
Girl Scouts came to
Covenant Place to have
a Sip & Paint event with
our residents, they
wanted to paint women
in honor of Women's
History Month. Pictured
are the results of that
painting class.
