DESCRIPTION
eMuseum Network is a search and collaboration platform designed and hosted by Gallery Systems. The project enables member museums to share their collections catalogues and to search and export data across all participating collections from a single access point, in a share-and-share-alike fashion. This presentation will give an overview of the project and how Gallery Systems plans to provide a path for museums to participate in the Linked Data Initiative.TRANSCRIPT

Background
• Distributed Search Pilot Project –2001/2002– Proof of concept
• Distributed Search Pilot Project V2 – 2006– Additional nodes added, more remote nodes
• eMuseum Network – 2007– Re-branding, updated interface
• eMuseum Network version 2 – 2009– Platform defined, extensive development
begun
• 2010 – data interchange and first level of integration with TMS added

What is
eMuseum Network?
• A way to search across museum
collections from a single access
point
• A tool for the museum community
to exchange data electronically
• Not just search, but a platform
for collaborating
![Page 4: Courzon iskouk09 jun2010](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022052506/5579acd6d8b42ac1148b4ed7/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)

How does it work?
• Each participating museum is a „node‟
• One central search point, like Google
• Choose which collections to search
– Keyword & advanced search
– Refine searches
• See which nodes returned results
• View in list, light box, single item and
XML
• Export functions: CDWA Lite & LIDO
