• New requirements– Virtual Course: Advanced Studies & Standard Diploma– CTE Credential: Standard
• Academic and Career Plans: Start in Middle School• Modified Standard Diploma is NOT an option
– MSD is rolled into the Standard Diploma
Terms You Need to Know:Standard Credit: Pass a classVerified Credit: Pass an end of course assessment (standards of learning aka SOL)
For Students with Disabilities• Early start is best (first IEP in which the student turns 14)
– Courses– Finding right supports/accommodations• AIM, Assistive Technology
– Self-determination– Work experience (predictor of postsecondary
success)– Inclusion (predictor of postsecondary success)– Agency referral– FAPE – IEP follows the student through age 21 or
until graduation with Adv or Standard Diploma
Non-traditional Students
– Intellectual Disabilities– Autism
