The extremely popular PropertyDevelopment Programme is presentedjointly by the Graduate School of Business(GSB) of the University of Cape Town,and SAPOA. This intensive two-weekcourse, held at the GSB in Cape Town,is South Africa’s premier management

Town PlanningParticipants will be taken throughthe wholeplanning process, includingprocedures. The course gives anintroduction to town planning and theestablishment of townships, examinesthe legislative framework, the controlsand design standards within whichplanners must work.
Property ManagementThis segment deals with themanagement of income producingproperties: commercial and industrial
residential, parking garages.
Property LawA review of legislation applicableto all property matters, includingproperty legislation.
Property TaxationThe principles and practicalities oftaxation as they affect purchases, thesales of property, the design ofbuildings and complexes, and propertymanagement, including VAT. Possiblefuture taxation scenarios as they affectproperty will also be discussed.
Strategic Thinking – DoingBusiness in the Chaotic WorldA pragmatic process of strategicthinking in order to help participantscontextualise the inevitable challengesand opportunities of the futuremarket place.
ProjectsThe culmination of the course is theapplication of principles learned onthe course to a theoretical propertydevelopment in or around Cape Town.In addition, case studies and dailyprojects are set.
