What is EnterpriseOne (E1)
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software● Facilitates the flow of information between all
business functions within the organization● All financial and operations processes across
Pharmavite are integrated into a single database for management and reporting purposes
Owned by Oracle Also called JD Edwards (JDE)
11
A Few Operations Process Definitions
Raw Material: Material procured from a Supplier (i.e. Vitamin C powder) to be processed into a tablet or softgel
Tablet: Compacted and coated powder form of a vitamin or mineral
Softgel: Liquid form of a vitamin or mineral inside a gelatin based shell
Bulk: Container/tote of manufactured vitamins or minerals in either tablet or softgel form
Components: Materials (i.e. Caps and bottles) used to package Bulk to make Finished Goods
Finished Goods: Packaged material ready for distribution to customers
12
1. How do we know:
The number of bottles of Vitamin C tablets (Finished Good) we need to manufacture for our customers?
The amount of Vitamin C powder (Raw) we need to procure to make them?
3. What happens to the Vitamin C powder to become Vitamin C tablets (Bulk)?
5. How do the bags of Vitamins C tablets become Finished Goods ready for our customers’ shelves?
7. How do we distribute the Finished Goods to our customers?

Impact of Errors in E1…
Scenario in Manufacturing● A Blending Operator is directed by the E1 system
to “Putaway” a tote of material onto a specific shelf in the warehouse.
● The barcode for the location on the shelf is not readily visible and the Operator accidentally scans the wrong location into the E1 system after putting away the material.
What different business groups are affected by the error?
18
Downstream/Upstream Impacts
Impacts Downstream● When the Compacting Operator is directed to “Pick” the tote
from the location shown in the E1 system the material will not be there.
● The Compacting Operator will need to spend time looking for the tote resulting in production downtime
● The schedule of all processes following (i.e. Coating and Packaging) and overall Customer Service becomes affected
Impacts Upstream● If left uncorrected Production Planning and Direct
Procurement will work from inaccurate inventory information in the E1 system
