COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course will introduce to students the core concepts of banking and financial
institutions. Principles of banking are examined with emphasis on a) the regulatoryenvironment b) performance evaluation of banks c) asset-liability management
techniques used and d) the financial instruments used and offered by banks. At the
conclusion of this course, student should be able to recognize financial systems in the
economy and the role of banks in it.
PREREQUISITE (IF ANY):
Students are required to complete FIN301 before taking this course.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
To understand financial system of an economy
To understand the role of central banks in implementing the monetary policy in aneconomy
To know the impact of banking system on the corporate financing decisions
To know the different financial institutions and their instruments
