King’s National Breast Screening Training Centre & London South Bank University Mammography Image Interpretation 24th September– 28th September 2018 This is a five day module - plus one additional day to undertake a formative baseline test. The course is designed for radiographers and breast clinicians who wish to develop the knowledge and skills required to practice image interpretation within the NHSBSP and also for those working in symptomatic practice. Learning objectives: At the end of this module the student will be able to: Develop a competency in NHSBSP image reading practice Recognise and interpret normal mammographic appearances including normal or iatrogenic variations Develop the ability to evaluate images and write a comprehensive report on symptomatic patient mammograms Engage in sound clinical reasoning and appropriate decisions for further action The teaching faculty will include: Dr M J Michell, Dr Rema Wasan, Dr Juliet Morel , Dr Clare Peacock and Mrs Katie Fordyce (nee Pyne). This 40 credit module provides the range of clinical skills and development required for practitioners who are already experienced in mammography and who wish to engage in the interpretation and comment on

mammographic images. It provides important role development in this area and facilitates elements of advanced practice in mammography. The

duration of the course is approximately one year.

The course is kept under constant review to ensure current learning needs are met. A detailed module guide is provided to students at the commence-ment of the course.

The module requires five days attendance at KCH, plus one additional day to undertake a formative baseline test.

The module requires 200 study hours, 150 hours are student managed learning hours.

Portfolio

Record of clinical experience—minimum 2000 cases

Written assignment

3000 word written assignment

Test sets of mammograms (from Applied Vision Research Institute)

OSCE - Objective Structured Clinical Examination
