About the Course

The CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care allows students who are already working in an early childhood setting or would like to commence a career in early childhood, to formalise their qualifications.

This course will qualify you to work in a range of early childhood education and care settings and is the minimum qualification that allows educators in centre-based and family day care services to work in any approved early childhood service in Australia, including long day care, family day care, kindergartens, and school aged care services.

Students are required to complete 120 hours of work placement in an approved early childhood service and a completion time of 12 months to 18 months applies to this course. Students are required to obtain a blue card in Queensland or a working with children clearance in your relevant state or territory.

Students will gain the skills required to interact with children, create safe and healthy environments, respond to children’s daily care requirements as well as their social, emotional and developmental needs; assist educators in setting up and implementing programs and care routines for children.

You’ll learn how work within a team to care for children, how to contribute to a safe working environment. Work placement will give you real-life training to make sure that you are ready to step directly into professional employment.

CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care

Course Delivery

This course is delivered online through which you will acquire knowledge and necessary skills. There is also a work placement component to be completed in an ACECQA approved early education and care service. Student work placement provides you with real-life training to ensure that you are ready to step directly into professional employment.

Available Funding

QLD Certificate 3 Guarantee (C3G) Program

The Certificate 3 Guarantee provides a government subsidy to allow eligible Queenslanders to obtain their first post-school certificate III level qualification.

Eligibility requirements

You are 15 years of age or older

Have finished or left secondary school

Are a Queensland resident

Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident (including humanitarian entrant) or temporary resident with necessary visa and work permit on the pathway to permanent residency or a New Zealand citizen.

You do not hold or are currently enrolled in a certificate III or higher level qualification (Certificate III qualifications completed at school do no apply)

Employment status does not matter, nor is there a minimum education requirement, except the standard entry requirements for the course

Qld User Choice 2016-17 Program (Qld)

The User Choice 2016-17 program provides a public funding contribution towards the cost of training and assessment services for eligible Queensland apprentices and trainees.

The program aims to provide funding aligned to the skill needs of industry and respond to changing government priorities.

Childhood Education and Care as either a

School-based Trainee; or

Traineeship

Requirements for School-based Traineeship

Must be enrolled at a secondary school in years 10, 11 or 12.

Not completed a course using their User Choice funding.

Requirements for Traineeships

Completed or no longer attending secondary school

Must be 15 years of age or older

Not completed a course using their Userchoice funding.
