    The Australian Government, Department of Industry have createda national database of all enrolments in Vocational Education andTraining (VET)

    All students completing Nationally RecognisedTraining with us will from 1 January 2016 berequired to provide St John with their UniqueStudent Identifier a USI

    If you already hold a USI: we will need it for validation

    If you do not hold a USI: you will need to get one before youattend your course

    Its free, its easy to doand you only have to do it once.

    Simply log on towww.usi.gov.auenter the required informationand the system will generate your USI.

    For training that occurs from 1 January 2016, St John will not beable to issue Statement of Attainments for any accredited courseswithout a USI.

    St John Ambulance offers an On Site First Aid Kit Re Stocking Service andwill liaise with your organization on the maintenance of all your first aid kits. Themaintenance is in the form of replacing those consumables used and out of dateconsumables therefore maintaining the integrity of the First Aid Kit.

    As our service vehicle is fully stocked we can supply your needs immediately.

    Code of Conduct

    St John Ambulance Australia (TAS) will ensure that qualified andexperienced trainers are used to conduct courses.

    While St John Ambulance Australia (TAS) staff will provide encouragementand support, each student has a responsibility to make every effort tomaintain satisfactory progress in their first aid training.

    Trainers will prepare and present materials that meet the appropriatestandard. Students will be assessed fairly, objectively and consistently todetermine their competency and understanding of the material.

    Enrolment Conditions

    Access to all courses is subject to:

    course fees being paid in advance of the course

    availability of courses

    sufficient enrolments in courses

    course entry requirements being met

    Timely arrivalStudents who arrive later than 15 minutes after thecourse commencement time, will not be permitted to attend and willbe booked into another course.

    Registration and Course Fee

    St John Ambulance reserves the right to determine registration and coursefees.For information on course fees, contact the nearest training centre.We do require prepayment of course fees prior to the commencement ofcourse.

    Non Attendance

    Failure to cancel a booking prior to the commencement date of the course

    will attract the appropriate course fee being charged.

    Flexible Learning & Assessment Procedures

    St John TAS has the capacity to use learning and assessment methodsand materials appropriate to the learning and assessment needs ofparticipants. Assessment is the process of collecting evidence and making

    judgement on the extent and nature of progress towards the performancerequirements set out in a competence standard, module or learningoutcome. Assessed tasks may include in class activities, group work,demonstrations and oral and/or verbal theory tests.

    St John TAS supports competence based learning and assessment andparticipants will be assessed fairly, objectively and consistently todetermine their competency and understanding of the material presented.Statements of competency will be issued to participants within two weeks

    of course completion.

    Any participant experiencing difficulties associated with the learning andassessment procedures should raise their problem with the trainer so thatalternative arrangements can be made.Participants with a disability or requiring literacy and numeracy support mayseek assistance to succeed in course learning outcomes

    Workplace Health & Safety

    St John Ambulance Australia (TAS) has a responsibility to provide a safeand healthy environment for their employees, customers and visitors.Under the Workplace Health and Safety Act 2012, participants also havecertain responsibilities.These include:

    undertake activities in a safe manner

    following instructions provided for safety

    not putting themselves or others at risk

    reporting in injury/illness or incident to an appropriate person.

    Disciplinary Measures

    Students who exhibit behaviour which is disruptive, inappropriate ordisturbing may be excluded from classes.

    Complaints, Grievances and Appeals

    If, for any reason, you are unhappy with either the quality of the coursebeing delivered, your assessment result or the standard of service receivedfrom St John TAS, you should, in the first instance, discuss your concerns

    with the course trainer. If the matter is not resolved after discussion with thetrainer, you are invited to raise the issue with the Training Manager inwriting. (Assessment appeals must be lodged within 5 days after the end ofcourse).

    All grievances/complaints are attended to through our Quality System forContinual Improvement. Notification of the outcome will be given to theclient.You may otherwise choose to refer the matter to an external complaints

    agency.

    Privacy Policy

    Your privacy is respected by St John Ambulance. Information collected willbe used in course administration and may be provided to training staff.You will normally be reminded when your certificate expires and you mayalso be provided with information on first aid kits and other courses offeredby St John. If you do not want to receive certificate expiry reminders or

    information, have privacy concerns or would like to verify information heldabout you, please contact the State Office on 03 6271 0333.

    Access and Equity

    St John Ambulance Australia actively encourages the participation andinvolvement of a cross section of the community. This is achieved throughthe establishment of non-discriminatory student selection procedures,encouraging access for all members of the community. Students with

    language or literacy difficulties should inform the enrolment staff so thatappropriate assistance can be provided. Students with any other difficultyduring the course should in the first instance seek assistance from thetrainer conducting the course. Failing satisfactory solution of the problem,the State/Territory Training Manager should be approached.

    This practical course teaches resuscitation to people who do not wish toattend a full first aid course.

    Expected OutcomesSuccessful participants will be able to, in real situations, render life-savingand basic first aid to casualties in need.

    Provide First Aid Annual Recertification

    Course Fee: $95 per person

    This 6 hour course is designed to refresh and recertify those who hold acurrent Provide First Aid Statement of Attainment that has been issuedwith in the last calendar year. It reinforces previous knowledge and skillsand will incorporate any changes in first aidmanagement that hasoccurred. As well as reinforcing previous knowledge and skills the sessionfocuses on assessment.

    Expected OutcomesSuccessful participants will be able to, in real situations, render life-saving

    and basic first aid to casualties in need.

    Who should attendHolders a Provide First Aid certificate who wish to have their skills andknowledge refreshed and updated annually to ensure that their certificateremains current.

    The aim of this course is to teach the skills and knowledge required tomanage a casualty with pain, including how to administer analgesia,consistent with any specific workplace and/or relevant legislativerequirements in relation to first aid, including State/Territory requirementsfor currency.
