ENGLISH SECOND LANGUAGE COACHELLA VALLEY ADULT SCHOOL (CVAS)

CVAS offers a wide range of ESL classes from beginning to advance. Students are initially assessed and placed into an appropriate class where they improve in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Instruction is given to enhance these skills so students can communicate effectively beyond the classroom. Students begin to carry on dialogs in English at work and other places in the community. These ESL clas-ses help adult participants increase their verbal and written fluency in the English language through the use of reading, writing, and speaking assignments. No appointment neces-sary.

GED/HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA RIVERSIDE COUNTY OF EDUCATION-COME BACK KIDS CBK is a program that offers prevention/intervention ser-vices to students age 14 and up who with to re-enroll in an educational program. Students who have fallen through the cracks are offered an opportunity to make up-credits, find classes they need, and get special training. By appoint-ment only.

PARENTING CLASS LATINO COMMISSSION

Starting January 14

Monday & Thursday 5:30P-8:00P

Sign up to attend 14 weeks of training for families with chil-dren 6 to 11 years. Parents and children attend sessions together. Topics such as communication, setting limits, and solving problems will be discussed. Child care is offered for kids 5 and under. Certificates of completion and raffles are rewarded to those participate throughout the program.

recursos de emergencia de la vida cotidiana: co-

mida, ropa, alojamiento; gestión de casos: desa-

rrollo familiar, planificación, orientación, mento-

ría; consejería; seguridad: acceso a asientos de

carros para niños, acceso a cascos de bicicletas;

proyecciones de desarrollo; respuesta diferencial;

visitas y supervisión del bienestar de los niños;

soporte en encontrar recursos y artículos de pri-

mera necesidad.

Crecimiento y Desarrollo

Grupos de interacción padre/hijo; educación y

liderazgo de los padres; los enlaces de prepara-

ción escolar; actividades/clases para el desarrollo

juvenil; clases para una vida saludable: ejercicio,

liderazgo comunitario; talleres de prevención

Los estudiantes son evaluados inicialmente y colo-cados en una clase apropiada donde mejoran en escuchar, hablar, leer y escribir. Se da instrucción para mejorar estas habilidades para que los estudiantes puedan comunicarse efectivamente más allá del aula. Los estudiantes comien-zan a llevar a cabo diálogos en inglés en el trabajo y en otros lugares de la comunidad. Estas clases de ESL ayudan a los participantes adultos a aumentar su fluidez verbal y escrita en el idioma inglés mediante el uso de tareas de lectura, escritura y expresión oral.
