PRESENT: Bob Lee, Executive Secretary to Governor Foss; Ed T. Elkins, State Treasurer; Phil Saunders, Attorney General; E. D. Barron, Assistant Attorney General; Buford Gray, Deputy State Auditor; Bernard Linn, Commissioner School and Public Lands; Clara Halls, Secretary of State,

The meeting was called to order by Mr. Lee:

Mrs. Halls presented to the Board Notice of Intention to Drill for Gil and Gas, dated April 15, 1957, filed by Raymond Oil Company of Denver, Colorado, covering the Mitchell No. 1, located on Section 28, Township 11S, Range 1E, Fall River County, South Dakota. The well is located 660' North and 662' East from the SW Corner of Section 28, Township 11S, Range 1E, BHM, Fall River County, South Dakota. Said well is covered by bond in the amount of $3,000,00 executed by the Aetna Casualty G Sprety Company, as Surety. It was moved by Mr. Linn and seconded hy Mr. Elkins t:lat the application be approved and permit granted, which permIt shall require Raymond Oil Company of Denver, Colorado, to furnish to Dr. E. P. Rothrock, State Geologist, a complete set of cuttings and if available two sets of Geophysical Logs be furnished to the Secretary of the Gil and Gas Board, Pierre, South Dakota.

A meeting of the State Oil and Gas Board was held in the Office of the Secretary of State at 10:30 A. L, OD NoveMber 20, 1957.

PRESENT: Bob Lee, Executive Secretary to Governor Foss; Ed T. Elkins, State Treasurer; E. D. Barron, Assistant Attorney General; F. A. Allbee, State Auditor; Bernard Linn, Commissioner of School and Public Lands; Clara Halls, Secretary of State.

The meeting was called to order by Mr. Lee, Executive Secretary.

Mrs. Halls, Secretary of the Board, presented to the Board Notice of Intention to Abandon the Mitchell Well No. 1, located on Section 28 Township 11S, Range 1E, Fall River County, South Dakota, together with Well Plugging iiffidavit of said well. After a short discussion it was moved by Mr. Allbee and seconded by Ar. 4..ee that the Well Plugging Affidavit and Notice of Intention to Abandon the Aitthell Well No. 1, located 660 feet North and 662 feet East from the SW Corner of Section 28, Township 11S, Range IE, Fall River County, South Dakota, be approved and the liability under bond executed by the Aetna Casualty & Surety Company as Surety and-Raymond Oil Company as Principal, in the amount of $3,000.00 conditioned upon compliance with the law and rules and regulations of the Oil and Gas Board concerning wells to be drilled in Fall River County, South Dakota, be, and the same is hereby terminated and at an end from and after this date, and the bond of $3,000.00, given in connection with the drilling of said well, be released.

This letter concerns a release of bond for two oil tests, the data: Raymond 01 Mitchell, sec. 28, T. 11 S., R. 1 E., Fall River County; and the Raymond 41 Goodnick, sec. 23, T. 11 S., R. 9 E., Fall River„County.

Ve have received the samples for these wells, and as the requirements of the State have been met, the bond may now be released.

Reference is made to your letters of Auyust 28, 1957, with regard to the Raymond-Goodnick Vie!' No. 1 and the Raymond-Mitchell Ilan No. 1, Fall River County, South Dakota.

The bund for neither of these wells should be released because wo still do not have the samples or the two copies of the electric loys for oither of these holes.

If you wish, can write to them and let them know what is lacking before their bond can be released.

I would appreciate a report from you in regard to the above well.

According to my records, I wrote you a letter on July 10, 1957 asking for your approval of the abandonment of the above well. We have, however, hesitated to take action in regard to having the bond released, due to the fact that your report of July 5 recommended that the bond should not be released. However, I do have your copy of the Well Plugging Affidavit, which I received July 19, 1957 stating that the plugging had been approved.

I would appreciate hearing from you_in regard,to this. Thank you.
