WHAT’S EVENT DAY?

FOOD CHALLENGES Clover Kids select a food item (s) that they have learned to prepare in the past year. They have 15 minutes to prepare it from beginning to end in front of a judge. The judge will consider proper food preparation, techniques, safe food/handling, skill level and final product. Clover Kids will need to provide all their ingredients, utensils and cooking equipment.

Possible ideas: Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich, Dirt Cups, Fruit Smoothie, Kabobs (fruit, cheese, meat), Trail Mix, Yogurt Parfait, Grilled Cheese Sandwich, Puppy Chow, Vegetable Dip These are just ideas.

CLOTHING CHALLENGES

Challenge

Clover Kid will select and/or purchase an outfit that represents their goal or intended use for the selected outfit.

Clover Kid can purchase a garment or put something together that they already have in their closet.

Registration forms are online at https://www.extension.iastate.edu/poweshiek/content/clover-kids

Clover Kids may work alone or in a team to create a themed table setting. Table setting should include menu (no food), proper table service and glassware, and themed

decorations. Be creative!

You are encouraged to dress in accordance with your theme. This event is for 2nd and 3rd graders only.

Table Setting

Food Challenge

Clover Kid can purchase a garment at a garage sale, consignment store, or resale shop (such as Goodwill or Salvation Army). Hand-me-downs would belong in Clothing Selection, not this category.

Cost of the outfit must be $15 or less, not including shoes, accessories, or undergarments. Receipts must be turned in with Clothing Event Report Form. This category is for 3rd graders only.

All clothing entries will be judged on how well the outfit fits it’s intended use, value of the outfit, proper fit and knowledge of the Clover Kid regarding the outfit.
