Why Should We Care?
The counter culture movement took place in the 1600’s. So why should we care? The counter culture movement was a
time when people, mostly younger, showed their individuality. The “children” of the U.S were very
opinionated about the Vietnam war. They felt that war solved nothing and that the boys shouldn’t be sent to
Vietnam when they didn’t believe in what they are fighting for.
The 1960’s In the 1960’s things were pretty simple. You listened to the Beatles, had shaggy or long hair, and prayed not to go to war. The 1960’s was also known as the “hippie movement”. So people wore bell-bottom jeans, short skirts and the bikini (that became popular around this time because of the movie Beach Party). The girls wore their hair in a beehive fashion that was a trend set by Twiggy, a famous super model.
Who Was Involved?
Hippies-Hippies were a part in the counter culture movement. When we think hippies, your mind says tie dye and drugs. But that wasn’t all they were about. They opposed the war and make it public.
HUGE
Protesters-Protesters protested the Vietnam war. Although many protesters were also hippies, some weren’t for peace, they were just opposed to Vietnam.
What was the Counter Culture Movement?
The counter culture was a time when people started to speak out
against the government. The counter culture of the 1960’s was a
cultural movement that was created in the United States between 1956 and 1974. The movement gained
more attention during the U.S. military assistance in Vietnam
People believe that the greatest time of influence was from 1965 to 1972. People mainly spoke about
about how they didn’t want to go to war and how the war had nothing in
o for the United States.
