This appointment commenced in October 2017 and extends to April this year, and has enabled a proactive approach to mitigating stable fly breeding through the summer peak period. Following this period the Shire will continue to work with stakeholders, and inspections will be carried out by authorised officers in Ranger Services. To date some 145 inspections this season have been conducted which has resulted in 16 letters of advice and 10 pest control notices being issued. The Shire continues to work collaboratively with the Department of Primary Industries and Development and ratepayers to ensure that the breeding of stable fly is minimised through good land and waste management practises. In the event you are concerned with the occurrence of stable fly in your area you are encouraged to download the Pest Reporter App from the DPIRD website at www.dpird.wa.gov. au and report such incidences to ensure that Officers can continue to undertake inspections in appropriate areas across the Shire. This event will also coincide with and complement the Arts in the Park event at Granville Park, Gingin. This three-day event will feature a diverse display of artwork from locals and out-of-towners including installations, sculptures, paintings, clay models and more – the theme being the life, death and resurrection of Christ. Construction will commence mid-April 2018 and will take approximately five months to complete. The majority of work will occur Monday to Saturday between 7am and 6pm and will be carried out within the existing buildings on site. While customers’ properties won’t be directly impacted by the project, there will be an increase in noise in the area as well as an increase in traffic along an access track off Edgar Road that leads to the tank site once construction is under way. The Water Corporation will be in touch with local residents throughout the project and ensure any impacts are communicated, and encourage residents to contact them if they have any concerns. An authorised contractor will complete the work on behalf of the Water Corporation. Please see map below for more details.
