Trefoil Adventure Center is located northeast of Watertown, NY, on the outskirts of the gorgeous Adirondack Park. It is one of our woodsier properties. Complete with private Snyder Lake, Trefoil is the center for our council’s best adventure activities. In addition to an open archery range, frisbee golf course, and waterfront for boating, swimming or fishing, Trefoil is home to the council’s only adventure ropes course. Four A-frame units with canvas tent entryways, a canvas Yurt and two buildings are available for troops to rent for their stay up north. Each A-frame has its own latrine and hand wash station and is available year-round; they do not have heat or water in winter. For questions or help with a reservation, contact us at 1.855.213.8555 or [email protected].
Meet Don Snider! (Does that name ring a bell? It’s similar to the name of Trefoil’s lake!) Don has been caring for Trefoil since 2012 and in that time has built (and rebuilt) many units. Take a look at the beautiful sliding door on the Boat House and the maple tapping Sugar Shack by Staff Row to see just a few examples of his talent. When asked about his favorite feature, Don looked positively outraged to have to pick just one. He says the entire property is his favorite! Contact Don (during your rental period) 315.771.9025 [email protected]
We know that Girl Scouts love to camp year-round, but unfortunately some features and pipes on the property are not available during cold weather months. Please carefully read descriptions marked with a snowflake to see how they are affected by winter availability.

12 overnight, 80 day $120/night
The Lodge is the main building at Trefoil. Used as a dining hall during the
summer camp season, it has a large kitchen and even larger dining area
with an indoor circular fireplace and sturdy wooden tables. Behind the
Lodge is a fire pit, picnic tables, and a compost bin—which troops are
encouraged to add their scraps to. There is a flush toilet, running water,
electricity and heat—making it a perfect building to rent for winter
camping. Renovations in 2019 gave the Lodge a new sleeping area just off
of the main dining room.
30 overnight $75/night,
The Nature Center is the other heated, year-round building at Trefoil. A
spacious one-room building with a fireplace, bookcase and carpet, it
feels more like being at home than at camp. Adjacent to the Nature
Center is the property Shower House, Soap Shed, with flushing toilets
and showers available to use outside Winter Availability and a nearby
latrine available for year-round use. There is no running water in the
Nature Center, but there is a refrigerator and microwave for quick meals.
20 $75/night
In addition to being a fun word to say, the Yurt is a fun place to stay at
Trefoil! The circular set up encourages that close bond developed during
a camping trip. The Yurt has beds, bunk beds and a table inside. Outside
there is a picnic table and fire pit. Behind the Yurt is a narrow path to a
beautiful lookout point of Snyder Lake. Unavailable during
Winter Availability.

Six wooden A-frame units with canvas entry ways, each holding four
cots with mattresses and one unit with electricity, make up this beautiful
unit in the woods. A spacious circle between the units has a pavilion with
picnic tables and fire pit for cooking and activities. A latrine and wash
station are also nearby for use. No heat or water during
Winter Availability.
24 $55/night
Chipmunk is the coziest of our cabin circles. These six units, each with
four cots within them, are closer together than the others. You will feel
like you are in your own camp property when nestled around the fire
circle (despite being the closest unit to the Nature Center and Lodge).
No heat or water during Winter Availability.
20 $55/night
Tamarack’s five units sit widely around a pavilion and fire
circle. One cabin has electrical outlets and another is handicapped
accessible. With enough room between units to run around, it’s a great
space to rent for activities and games. Tamarack is also closest to the
ropes course. No heat or water during Winter Availability.
16 $55/night
Staff Row’s four A-frame units are the only ones with electrical outlets in
each and with all hard sides. The unit is centrally located and a short walk
to the waterfront, archery range and ropes course. It also has a fire pit,
water spigot and picnic table. No heat or water during Winter Availability.
2020-2021
A tree-covered path located by Staff Row opens to Trefoil’s waterfront
where you can swim, boat, fish and lounge on amphitheater seating.
Fishing poles, life jackets and boats are in the Boat House, which will be
unlocked during your rental time. The Boat House also has changing
areas, as well as a compost toilet. Fishing is allowed off of the shoreline
to the right or left of the docks, but not in the swim area. A lifeguard is
required when swimming or boating, and a small craft certified boating
instructor is needed to use the boats.
Waterfront unavailable: September 21—May 22
To access the archery range, head to the main road and carefully cross
the street to the trail across the road. Follow the Oreo Trail to the range
and the frisbee golf course for girls to use while waiting to test their bow
skills. An archery facilitator is required to use the area and we ask that
you clean up the range when finished.
Archery unavailable: November 2—May 1
If you have rented any of our outdoor cooking equipment, you can find those in the Lodge at the center of the
property. Snowshoes and skis are in the North Pole Shed behind the Lodge, along with other sports equipment.
There is one GaGa Ball pit at Trefoil for everyone to enjoy, so please be mindful of other campers and remember
to share with your fellow Girl Scouts!
2020-2021
The best way for girls to try out the Ropes Course is to attend summer camp, but we also offer Ropes Course programs throughout the year. If troops would like to make a private reservation for the course, this can be accommodated on a case by case basis depending on availability. Any interested parties should contact the Outdoor Program Manager for Trefoil, Beth Jennings at [email protected] or 315.782.1890 x2216.
