They will be acknowledged and reviewed by a member of the Editorial Board. Original work will be referred for assessment by one or more experts. In general, clinical case reports should not exceed 1,000 words. Other original work should be restricted to a maximum of 2,000 words. MATERIAL submitted may be on discs (5.25 or 3.5ins) in any of the common word processor languages (Wordperfect, Wordstar etc.), or it should be typed in double spacing on one side of A4 paper, with a 2.5 em margin at the left. Graphs, tables, black-and-white or colour photographs may be included in moderation and should be captioned, labelled and in a form suitable for publication. Their orientation should be identified (in pencil) on the back. Photographs should be of a size which can be accommodated in the width of 1 column (85mm max) or a double column (170mmmax ). An address for correspondence must be given for inclusion at the end of the article. REFERENCES should follow the Vancouver system (BM J, 1991, 302: 338-41). They should be numbered consecutively (in parenthesis) where they are first mentioned in the text, and listed at the end of the paper. For journal references all authors should be included up to six, (first three only when seven or more), followed by the title of the article, name of journal (abbreviated as in Index Medicus or left in full), year, volume and first and last pages. For books, the author(s) should be followed by the chapter title (if appropriate), book title, editor(s) (if applicable), place of publication, publisher, year and page numbers. PROOFS of each paper will be sent to the first named author. Only minor corrections are acceptable at that stage. DEADLINES for copy are 15th December, 15th March, 15th June, 15th September. Scope of the Journal The Journal ofTissue Viability (JTV) is published quarterly by the Tissue Viability Society. The objective of the Journal is to disseminate information concerning all aspects of problems involving compromise of the viability ofhuman tissues. Potential contributors from every discipline involved in the treatment of, and research into, wounds and other lesions are sought by the editorial board. Material is particularly sought on the investigation of the <etiology of wounds and lesions, and their prevention. Problems of tissue viability are wide ranging in their occurrence, pathophysiology and clinical management. The JTV is intended to reflect this wide range of interests. The Journal will also act as an information forum concerning new products for wound management and research and for new publications and books concerned with wound management and occurrence.
